SO MUCH OIL HELP!!!!
« on: June 02, 2004, 11:18:41 PM »
Does anyone know of an extremely powerful ball? I am bowling on 48ft long heavy oil shot. The oil is spread from gutter to gutter. I want to keep my "a" shot which is playing around 20 swinging it to 8.I have balls for every type of shot except for heavy oil. I am a medium to high tweener throwing between 15-17 mph.I really don't like standing all the way right and pointing my balls. I never needed a strong ball because I can hook it, but with this shot, it is just skidding down the lane. I usually use Storm products but I am willing to try another type if it is a great ball. Unfortunately, all of the proshops around my way only handle storm equipment. Any ideas would be great. In addition, no one at the proshops around my way know any strong drilling types, they use the same ones from the sheets in the bowling ball box. HELP! Thank YOU!!!

Good luck.  I dont think that is possible but I could be wrong.  Someone else with a lot more revs might be able to do that but not me.

For heavy long oil conditions, I find that I have to slow the ball down a bit, try to stay more under the ball to get it to roll earlier, play a more direct line in the middle of the lane, (say, straight up between 15 and 20), and use a heavy load particle ball.  Others have success playing a down and in shot but very few can swing the ball out and have it recover enough.

Sometimes you just have to accept what the lanes are giving you and play the lanes that way.

Edited to add:

Posting one generic message under General - Miscellaneous instead of multiple posts under each manufacturer would be a better way to go in the future.  That way you would get replies from everyone in just one topic.

get a super carbide bomb and fire it up and in to the pocket..create the best angle you can to the pocket..swinging the ball on this shot will not work unless you are rudy revs..good luck

The Super Carbide Bomb should be able to handle heavy oil.  I dont know if you would be able to play your normal A game line with it but you should be able to get some movement with this ball.  Remember on a sport shot you will not have a defined wet/dry on the lanes except for the back-end if they are clean, so swinging the ball is usually not the best option.

When you get a chance to, go to the left side of the page and look under MY INFO for Profile, and put some information in there.  Some people on this site may not help if there is no information there for them to go by.  Usually some indication of your experience level, RH or LH, speed or rev rate if known, preferred types of line, even the balls that you use and their drilling if known, wood house or synthetic, etc.  That type of info will be useful.

Super Carbide Bomb. If ya worry about it rolling too early and burning up, get a longer pin. Dull up a Black Cherry Bomb is a good one too!
