Mini Review: Uranium
« on: May 30, 2004, 08:33:07 AM »
Lane Conditions: 32ft buffed to 39ft, OB at 5 board, nice consistant shot inside. Wood lanes

Layout on the ball: 4x4

Line: There was too much oil for this ball to recover on the fresh shot, but I had a nice line with it on the second shift. Standing 25 hitting 16 at the arrows and my breakpoint was at 10 board. If I missed out the ball simply did not have enough to get back.

Reaction: Very good length, and the ball had to find dry. If I did not find a dry board, the Uranium did not find a possible means of hooking. When I hit my mark this ball was a terror on the backends. Very continuous through the pins.

Impact: This is a very good hitting ball. The best lane 1 I have used when it comes to taking out the pins. It carried well light and high. If I went outside of my line I was destined to leave a weak 10.

Readability: I could see this ball being the first out of the bag for many bowlers....however, not for me. It will ride the oil pretty smooth and when it gets to the dry it is running left. A bowler with slower ball speed than I have would probably be able to use this ball as their "benchmark" ball.

Overall: I have thrown a few buzzsaws in the past (Blue Berry, Cherry Bomb, Super Carbide Bomb, Pro Purple, and the Emerald), but the Uranium is the best of the bunch. It offers a great skid/flip reaction and does its job when it gets to the pins. I was having a problem on the second shift in this house....everything I had would check up too soon, but this ball ignored the heads.
The best buzzsaw to date.....but I feel that there are better options out there. The price tag that comes with the Uranium is pretty steep. When for less money you can pick up a Track Crash, Hammer Big Blue Pearl, Columbia Detour, Brunswick Inferno or Blazing Inferno and all of them would give about the same kind of reaction, you are probably better off saving the money.

I can see where the Lane 1 fans are raving about this ball. Once I get some more games on it I will post a review.
