Solid Cobalt BOMB Question
« on: December 17, 2006, 10:43:07 PM »
How is yours drilled and do you love it or hate it?  I read somewhere that this ball does not perform that well with a plain old label 1:30 drilling.  I was thinking of trying a 4x4 stacked drilling.  My teammate just got his Cobalt Pearl drilled and tried to use it Friday night in league.  It didn't react at all (drilled label 1:30) so now I am beginning to wonder whether I should even drill it...

then a pin over ring or if you have the hand pin over bridge, swing it out about 3/4" and you will love it. for an earlier read, place the pin under ring or as stated if you have hand under bridge with the cg out that 3/4" anymore then 3/4 and you will prolly have to add a weight hole.

Look for ending statics of 1/2oz side and 1/2oz finger on your CG out drillings and you will love the readability and movement off of the top hat for this ball. It takes away the over/under you may see.

I have both of my Cobalt's drilled label and they work just fine (power-tweener). I use the Pearl on conditions where I can play it down and in, and the Solid when the conditions demand I swing it out and play the boards.

Mine is label-stacked according to the drill sheet.  Pin under ring.  Like Charles said, it does help smooth out the over-under on the THS I bowl on, which is something I have struggled with a great deal this season.

Personally I've had a few balls drilled this way and have never liked any one of them so I would suggest never using that drill pattern but that's just me.

4X4 stack is a good drilling to use, I'd also suggest the CG out..

Guys, I couldn't agree with you more. I've had bad luck with 1:30 Label drills on Saws also. I talked to Inverted 1 a few days ago and he said he had two Saws Label drilled and they didn't work for him either. Although a few people will claim 1:30 Label drills on Saws work for them, I have found talking to a lot of people that they don't work for more people than they do work for.

Based on my past failures and current success with Saws, and in talking to a lot of people that throw Saws, I don't think you can go wrong with a CG out drilling on Cores like the Uranium and C2 cores, but that's just me talking. I can't speak for Bomb Cores because I have never had one, but from what Triggerman posted here, the CG out works great on the Bomb Cores also.

On a side note to Joe 26 in reference to the Track 5.0, I had one of those also and it was one of the worse balls I have ever owned.

I have a few of each core type drilled both ways. Some good, some not so good.
I'll start another topic to debate that issue.

As for my Cobalt Solid, I have a short pin (2")...pin under ring, CG out, no weight hole...works great on a THS.

That's what I have on my Enriched Uranium (2" Pin, under RF, no weight hole, and  drilled 4 1/4 x 3 1/2) and that ball "ROCKS".
