Title: Solid Uranium is so money
Post by: SprayNpray on January 11, 2007, 05:52:29 AM
A couple of years ago I had a Solid Uranium that was my favorite ball of all time.  I had put a ton of games on it, and I had purchased some new equipment which replaced the SU at the time.

So I decided to trade it away for some another ball, which never really found a spot in my arsenal, and I was left longing for the SU.

I have since acquired 2 NIB Solid Uraniums, and drilled one up a few weeks ago.  Now I remember what I loved about it.  It rolls SO strong, is the perfect matchup on my regular house conitions for me, and just seems to carry everything.

The pin on my freshly drilled SU was exactly 4 3/8.  I ended up putting a label drill on it, like my old one had, and the pin ended up fairly high above the fingers, but also almost 2" right of the ring finger.  At first I was worried that this drilling would not be quite as aggressive as I wanted it to be, but boy was I wrong.  Instead, it gets down the lane just enough, and stores so much energy for the backend, that it almost behaves like a pearl ball but with some midlane!

I have averaged 248 with this ball since I drilled it about 3 weeks ago.  Last night I threw a 759 with it and my brother, who is on my team and remembers the first one I had, kept asking me when I would give him my other NIB so he could give one a try.

The thing I like best about this ball is that it does force you to make a good shot to get it to react properly.  This, combined with a minor tweak in my mechanics, has produced huge results for me.  I really think this ball is under appreciated in the realm of Saw lovers, but if you see some oil on a regular basis like I do, I strongly recommend this ball.

I love my pearl Uranium, when it matches up it will outcarry everything else I own. My only gripe is that the layout is rather strong, it will take off if I polish it and play on anything with a shorter pattern.

Brunswick and Lane #1: there is no other. Well... maybe a few Storms... and a One. Did I mention Roto Grip yet?

My Solid Uranium is my favorite Saw. I'd love to pick up another someday with a different drilling than mine.

Although my Dirty Bomb is running a VERY close second to it though.

SU is a great ball. Strong, smooth, predictable.
I shot my best-ever 4-game set with the SU in October.
