Chris wanted me to let you Buzzsaw Maniacs know that Birddogbowling is going to have a preorder sale on the new Solid Uranium.  $169.95 plus shipping until about the 15th or so of August.

Nope shipping isn't included. That is how I saw that it was $189 I went to go pre order one and I saw the final price of $202

Lane #1 asked us to put the stop to the presale.  We can take preorders, but they didn't want us selling the ball for cheaper than some shops/sites can get it for.  Sorry about that.

What a deal price control i think this sucks!!!! This is america mr. buzzsaw and now you control the market on the price that the shops can sell at here??? Give me a break i was going to buy a ball but i doubt it now !!!

I believe it always used to be that way mrbowlingnut.  It's only been recent that the proshops have been allowed to lower the price below a certain point.

Strider, the only other time a ball company controlled the price is when Brunswick (hmmm, coincidence anyone?) came out with the Quantums. Otherwise price has pretty much been dictated by the market.

I don't think so Dan.  Lane#1 wants to create the aura of making better equipment (whether real or imaginary is irrelevant).  I think they patterned their business model after Quantum's.  I've been on here a long time and have a good memory.  All Buzzsaw dealers used to have the same price. After a while, a few of the Buzzsaw dealers wouldn't list their prices, which made anyone curious go through the extra effort of PM'ing the seller.  Turns out they were selling the balls below Lane#1's suggested price.  One of the established dealers told me that any shop doing this would lose their contract allowing them to sell Buzzsaws.  It's only been lately that Lane#1 dealers were allowed to get into price wars.  Looks like they want to abort that process once again.

Sorry Strider, I thought you meant ball companies as a whole setting floors, not just Lane #1.  I'll take your word for it as I don't know their history.

Lane 1 offered us a special, Buy 4 get one free.  Columbia, Storm, Brunswick have done similar things on new releases and such.  If you have 5 for the price of 4, then your cost per unit goes down.  We offered this price, because we were still making (Chris with Birddog's) markup goal.

I did not know that Lane 1 doesn't make this offer to all shops/sites.  I don't like anyone telling me what I can sell products for, that is not free enterprise.  Evidently we have sold alot of Lane 1 products.  You get a banner ad on their site, when you sell $10,000 in one year.  But, the site is not mine, I just help them out, they are friends, but not as current on the miriad bowling balls available.

Lane 1 is by far the most expensive manufacturer.  You can't sell them any cheaper than you see them on the internet.  They go for $229.00 undrilled in my shop, and I don't stock hardly any, because they don't sell, I can't sit on that $180 that it cost to get that ball to my shop.  How can I justify to my customer that you NEED this Lane 1 ball at $300 out the door, when they can get an Ultimate Inferno at $215-$220 out the door??

Strider is right about the illusion thing, there are some that buy 'em just because they cost more, but there aren't that many.

Sorry to have caused such an uproar, didn't know there was a "floor" or price fixing or whatever.....
