I think I recall reading a thread on Lane #1 finishes, but I can't find it anymore. I'm thinking about getting a vertex spinner from Buddies so I can keep my coverstocks close to their out of box finish. I think this would be a good thread dealing specifcally with the equipment we use.
Most buzzsaws just say polished or highly polished. So I'd like to get down to particulars on the ones I have and maybe you guys can help me fill in the blanks on specific numbers and polishes I'll need for each ball.
HDB = polished
Uranium Buzzsaw = highly polished
Bullet = highly polished

Pearls are definitely sanded to 400 grit; then polished with Brunswick's High GLoss Polish. It has no grit; so, the underneath surface is still 400 grit. To make them go longer and grab less in the backend, sand to 800 grit or finer before applying the polish.
I believe the polished solids follow the same ritual.

Thanx for the replies and let's get even more in depth because I'm a complete noob when it comes to tweaking coverstocks. When you guys say bring it down to 400 and then bring it up to a 1000, can you explain that a bit more. Let's take for instance my pearl uranium, do you mean you need to bring it down or scuff it before polishing it? If so, why?

The reason you sand before polishing is simple, the underlying grit below the polish affects how the ball will react.
