what is the different lane1 product between the other brand
« on: February 08, 2004, 12:01:48 PM »
I see many many posts that complained the core of lane 1 ball is useless, I have total 3 lane1 ball, CB, GN, and XXL, all I can see is the core is so sure let the ball keep rolling and never say died, so I believe lane 1 is so smart to get patent their core. can you all share your opinions on the lane 1 ball with me ? in fact, I still believe the bowler will kill the lane 1 ball if throwing bad, but if you deliver your ball good, the lane 1 ball will never let you down.

EACH COMPANIES HAVE DIFFERENT CORES AND COVERSTOCK. BUT THERE'S HAS BEEN SOME THE SAME BUT WITH TWEAKING OF COVERSTOCK TO MAKE THE BALL MORE OR LESS ARGESSIVE.I AGREE THAT CORE IS UNIQUE. BUT REGARDISE OF WHAT CORE THAT LANE 1 OR BRUNSWICK-TRACK HAS SO FAR. AND EVEN THE COVERSTOCK. I GET ALL THE INFRO THAT I CAN GET ON THE BALL= DRILLING AND OIL CONDITION THAT BALL IS USE ON. BUT IF THAT BALL DON'T FIT MY STYLE BY SWINGING IT OUT OR DOWN AND IN.I WILL NOT GET IT.I'M NOT SAYING THAT ONE COMPANY IS BETTER THAN OTHERS.BUT IT IS HOW YOU HAVE THAT BALL SET UP TO USE.THAT IS WHAT MAKES THE BALL GREAT FOR THAT PERSON.OR SOME CASE DON'T WORK AT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU USE THE BALL FOR.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

I think I was TRYING to say that the APOCALYPSE is just as good on MED conditions as the GN! Time may prove that one ball is better then the other (I don't have the APOCALYPSE long enough)but for right now .. I am satisfied that it's JUST AS GOOD. Drillings are not my thing .. best I can do is compare to the drilling sheets provided by each company .. GN - LABEL; APO - 6" from PAP .. I hope that answers your question!

Joe,
Looking at the drillings you've specified has me scratching my head. The drilling on your Apocalypse "Works best on drier oil patterns. Designed for the most length and minimal backend reaction." Length=10, Backend=3.  These are Roto's words and specs.

The GN label drilled has Length=8 and Backend=9, or in other words, a pretty aggressive drill compared to your Apocalypse. ( Not to mention its particle coverstock vs. reactive of the other)

I think your balls are drilled for very different conditions, I really don't think that they are at all comparable.  If they are reacting similarly and you think that they are comparable I would suggest that the GN is probably burning all its energy too early.  I think that your GN would be effective on oilier conditions that your Apocalypse wouldn't be able to handle.

Thank you for the analysis .. If I read the drill sheets from LANE 1 .. it appears that my drilling would have GOOD LENGTH and VERY GOOD BACK-END .. (I think they rate them 8-9) I use the ball on MED oil (I rarely find HVY OIL) and I get an arc to the pocket (I don't feel it's BIG BACK END) .. I peruse the Roto Grip drilling instructions and I see I should have LENGTH (10) with Angular Backend Reaction (4) I use the AP on MED oil again and I feel the ball is ARCING to the pocket .. Thats what I'm writing about .. I feel I'm getting EQUAL action from the two balls (so far).

Now, have I tried the GN on DRY .. yes .. I was unhappy with the results. You suggest (as defined by Roto Grip) that the AP will work BETTER on DRY .. I hope both you and Roto Grip are RIGHT! I will be one HAPPY BOWLER.

Now I'm sure I misquoted or misunderstood .. but I'll be happy to discuss this further without taking others time .. JKJFALCO@AOL.COM ... thanks for your analysis again!

Sorry guy if I make you so embrassment for defending the lane 1 ball, why I want to start this thread because I have a cherry bomb and I felt great when I first used it, the ball is really snap and hit hard, but after I have replugged the finger hole by another driller who did not drill my ball, (the pin of the ball is just above the ring finger hole and it is a 4 X 3 with balance hole pattern), when I take my ball back, I found he drilled the finger hole so deep..deep when he replugged it and the whole ball weight was altered, I also throught he might demage the bomb head , more, he polished my ball with some unknown stuff which make my cherry so slippy and not absorb the oil anymore, finally, I found my ball is changed from 0.5 oz top weight to 0.5 oz buttom weight, he kill my ball and my ball did hook less 10 board then before and the pin stand up so soon.
So, I agree with you guy said the ball is specific for some bowler and lane condition, but I can see the ball so be highly intensive caring, any minor unprofessional changes should kill the ball immediately.

I personally think the lane 1 balls are some of the best on the market. when i bought my cherry bomb a year ago nobody in our house had ever even heard of them before. after raising my average over 20 pins from a 171 to a 193, two of my teammates bought lane 1 balls, another cherry bomb and a super carbide bomb. not sure if it was a fluke or not but our team needless to say has been kicking butt and taking names..... after switching over we finished second in the 1st third and ran away with the second third losing only 4 games out of 44 . i must state we are (or was) a very average team seldom placing above 3rd or 4th place. Since then there have been 3 other bowlers in the house who bought lane 1 balls. the trend seems to be cathing on lol soon we will lose our edge . One thing i did notice with the cherry bomb was that after 300 games it was tracked very badly and had lost it's mixability on the pins. I got it resurfaced and polished but it was never the same , hooks fine still just doesnt mix em up as well as before. Simple solution lol while buying a new uranium just buy a fresh cherry bomb as well, got them today and going to the pro shop in the morning. ARE THE LANE 1 BALLS SUPERIOR TO OTHERS ? I've thrown every make of ball out there and i like the way lane 1 balls roll and react , other balls ive thrown ( x factor , trauma, collossus,) are all great balls but confidence is 50% of the game if not more and i am confident in my lane 1 balls to produce and that for me they do. got an 11 in a row with my cherry bomb earlier this year. lane 1 is my company at least for now . hope i dont stir things up more lol
