StarBurst tidbit
« on: March 05, 2008, 10:11:56 PM »
I'm now a firm believer in hi-po plastic. Last night in league I started with a 201, second game 177 (tried 3 different balls), and then used the starburst for a nice 246 last game. I really need to go to this ball sooner than I did last night. Next week I'm going to start with the Starburst and see what kind of series I shoot.

How is it drilled and what type of lane conditions were you facing?

The ball is drilled 4 x 2 with a 11/16 x 3" on val. Lane conditions are unlike anything I ever faced before, spoiled I guess. Sometimes I can find a line for the first game with a medium reactive, but it never lasts more than 1 game. Then it's hunting time. Find a line, works for 3 or 4 shots then right on the nose. I might be able to play a line longer if I could throw faster but that doesn't work well for me. The outsides are pretty dry. The line I played with the Starburst was 6 at the arrows with a little point. Broke about 5 boards and arced right into the pocket. This is much easier for me to shoot than trying to get a reactive to work. My other 2 leagues the Starburst is strictly a spare ball. BTW the lanes are synthetic.

Nice shooting with it.  I have to NIB Starbursts (one sitting on the floor and another one on the way).  I am going to drill one and keep one.  This is one great-looking ball!
