Super Carbide Bomb.
« on: November 25, 2003, 07:01:02 AM »
OK I just picked one of these up and I am not pleased at all
with it. Span is a little off and there is more reverse pitch in the thumb
but I used to use that exact span and pitch in all my equipment.
what gives it hooks less than my Pearl Carbide Bomb.
I know it is not rolling out I know what that looks like.
I was playing right up 10 with it tonight.
It is drilled a bit differently.
All my current saws are drilled pin under and cg swung ceptin
my XXXL it is pin under cg in palm. Now this here supposed
monster is drilled pin above and between and cg stacked. Prolly like a
5x4 or so to me. I am going to redrill it this weekend, and if I don't like
it then I am gonna trade it off.

I took it and swung it out tonight and it left a big ole washout. I thought this damn ball was suppose to HOOK...
redrill and a bit of polish maybe.???

BG221,

Basically the 4 1/2 x 3 will be the same way.  He said he would keep us posted as to which layout he used, and how it worked.  I am sure he appreciated all the input, except PJohnson's.

these balls are made to hook in the midlane...no ball hooks in oil..they all start to hook in the midlane and keep going to the pocket.this ball will keep going, but if anyone is judging it by a sharp turn at the break point,it will not happen.
keep the pin in to the ring finger and cg out and it will work fine.
to store more energy, use a light polish.this stops it being dead on arrival if the heads are burnt up.
these balls are a must f you are playing tournaments etc.

PJ,

I am going to refrain from using the "I" word with you because it prob is not enough!!  You allow your mouth to make comments that you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about!! Forget the issue of who's Clump, I have already told you I have seen him throw in person, and he does throw THAT fast!!  Can you see where my irritation is, as you choose not to believe me, and I would not lie, especially about something so stupid as ball speed.

You need to come visit me, and I will have Clump there, BUT you better bring some cash to back up your mouth, and by the way, do NOT count on going back home with ANY of the cash that you bring to back up your lips.  Take the whole trip to say goodbye to it, and tell it that it will go into Clump's bank account, as so many others have had to do!  I guess there will be no helping you, but I would ask that you stick to making "bold" comments and absolutes about what you have seen or can prove, because Clump has eye witnesses, and NOT all of them are Saw fans.

Hey there... I have a SCB and was experiencing the very same "phenomena."  The house I bowl at has a ton of oil, but the ball just didn't seem to do much...  Just as a test, I polished the SCB as much as I possibly could (ebonite particle polish, factory finish, then extender polish)...  took it out the very next week and it was like a totally different ball.
For me, I think the dull surface (at the time was 800 grit sanded), even though wasn't rolling out, was burning up some energy in the heads and mid's...  by the time it got to the backend, it hadn't rolled out, but just didn't have much gas left..and as a consequence didn't hit very well.  The polish allows it to save up a litte more energy for the backends...  I would suggest trying the polish first, and then secondly the re-drill.
Good luck!

Reviving this from 4 pages down.

I Finally got er drilled up Today. I have not had a
chance to toss er yet but the drill pattern is probably
close to a 5x3 for me. Pin at 1:30 about 1/4" away from
the ring finger. Cg swung out toward pap about 1/2". I am going
to put a fresh 10 trizact surface on it before I throw it.
As well as dunking in degreaser.(hot water)  Anybody want to venture a
guess as to how this will work. (SAWMILL ESP) as we talked
extensively on this matter about 2 months ago.
