Uranium Blues
« on: March 31, 2004, 06:26:03 PM »
I am have the Uranium blues, I like the way the ball hits but tend to get an extra ordinary amount of splits, usually in the third set. The ball at 1000grit polished, drilled 5 1/2 x 3 1/2. Pin above and between fingers with a weight hole. For me it skid's a bit and tend to use to on med to med-dry lanes. Last Tuesday in the 3rd game it looked just a  little high and left the Greek church.  Try to hit little light into the pocket left 2-10 or 2-8-10 had 5 splits in that game. In travel league at a house I was not familiar in the first 2 games I had 7 splits on one left lane and 6 strikes in the right lane. Changed balls in the 9th frame of second game.
At 800 sheen a lot less skid, more useable for med to a little heavier. Left a lot of different single pins in the back row inn the later games.

Maybe this is not a good drill pattern for me. Had never used it before. Was looking to get a arcing ball with a similar reaction as the LRG, but for lighter oil and something that would get through the heads. What to try next?

Nothing Lane 1 . .  Sounds typical.  Move right, it overhooks, move left, leave 10's or washouts.

Hamster, this problem still has to be you. Go read all of the Uranium posts and the majority says: "Hardley ever leaves a 10 Pin"

So don't be blaming the ball whan it isn't the ball.

I think the layout is causing a bit more over/under for you, with the 5 1/2" pin to PAP. I would either go with a different layout, closer to the 4" pin to PAP range, or switch to a different ball when this one stops working. =:^D

It's the ball, trust me.  My Cherry Bomb was nice, I need another one of those, it didn't hook/set or roll out.  It hits like nothing I've seen, unless you get a half pocket hit, then you have no chance of kicking out the 10.  Again, normal Lane 1 stuff.  Light hits they're thrown everywhere, solid hits they're all blown off the deck, but half pockets will leave you a flat 10 EVERY SINGLE TIME.  My Cranberry was terrible, it rolled out like nobody's business.  All this carry stuff is assuming you can get the ball down the lane though, all Lane 1's want to hook in your backswing . .

Well maybe try a few more surface changes, maybe like a 1200 grit sanded or maybe a 600grit then polish it, before plugging and redrill. Thanks T-GOD for your suggestion. Maybe others on the board has had similar problems.

Polished PowerKoil 18 coverstock rolling out?????

What kind of desert were you trying to throw it on?

I'm thinking you need to learn to come up the back a little more or start throwing plastic.

Powerkoil 18 is a very strong cover.  I haven't seen a Cranberry in action, but I could see it rolling out under lighter conditions.  Of course, Steven said his was little more than a spare ball, so who knows?

I was coming up the back of it, big time, that's the only way I could get it down the lane . .  Honestly, this house is the weirdest house.  I DID throw plastic this week, shot 650.  On the same pair, my teammate was throwing a Warp Zone, and a guy on the other team was throwing a Silver Streak Particle.  Lol, that's it, I'm making a video.  I've got a stacked Detonator that will hook exactly the same as a 4x2 Purple Fuze.

Annoying ineffective wall.  It's oily inside 7, but bone dry outside that.  Plus the pattern is short and the backends are flat.  It won't pull up if you play inside there, and you'll be brooklyn in no time if you get it out too quick.  A couple guys have started throwing urethane (in the scratch league) and I think I'm gonna throw plastic for the rest of the season.
