Super Carbide Bomb/ Surface?????
« on: April 16, 2009, 01:25:23 AM »
I picked up a Super Carbide Bomb but someone has polished it up. I did some digging and found out it was originally 35 micron. My question is what is 35 Micron close to in Abralon or Scotch Brite??

Says that  35 micron is  500 american.  so the closest would be 1000 abralon

I use 35 micron Trizact regularly to resurface and/or refresh the cover on my SCB. If you're interested in purchasing Trizact, Jayhawk is a good place:

From my experience, 35 micron Trizact is very abrasive. It seems closer to 360-500 grit abralon in finish. It certainly provides more surface than 1000 grit abralon.

Regardless, given the older particle technology on the SCB cover, I'd stick with Trizact for any surface work on that ball -- it's the safe choice. The SCB cover is very durable, and if you take care of it with Trizact, you'll be happy with the results and the reaction.

If you choose to polish after a Trizact application, there are several options. I've been happy with 3M Perfect-It Rubbing Compound, and more recently, with a light application of Valentino Snake Oil.

For the next go around, I'm going to experiment with the Secret Sauce.
