Carbide Plus questions
« on: May 10, 2006, 05:47:45 PM »
Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere, but I haven't seen the answer so I'll ask: is the coverstock on this ball a solid particle coverstock, or a particle pearl?

Also: what would be the most comparable coverstock in the Lane #1 line?  For example, the Tsunami has the solid Hybrid +5 Radioactive 18 cover (PK 18 and Activator+).  Would the Carbide plus be this same cover with the 5% particle?

What the hell is a "light buff" finish?  Can someone please define this?

Is the Carbide Plus intended to handle more oil than the Solid Uranium?

If anyone has used this ball, how has it performed for you and on what oil conditions?

Thanks in advance for any info...

SawFreak, From what I gather from the lane one site, it is a solid resin coverstock(not pearl or hybrid) using the activator plus resin with a 5% particle load. Only guessing at what light buff means, possibly around 1000 matte finish. The ball is intended to handle a pretty heavy volume of oil.
Here is a picture & stats of the original carbide which looks exactly like the carbide +, & has the same weight block. http://www.lane1bowling.com/balls/carbide.html

I think the only difference is the newer, more aggressive resin, & not sure if the particle load is the same. Hope that helps.

according to the lane #1 guys more oil then the solid U but less then the SCB

Well then where does the Black Cherry Bomb fit then ? Are they planning on drop the BCB from production ?

The lane one hook rating chart may not be exactly accurate, however, according to them the BCB is now ranked #6 in hook potential.

I was also told that it will handle more oil than the Polished SCB.  The grit is 800 matte.

Well, I guess that settles it; I am getting one!  I LOVED the Solid Uranium, and this ball sounds like it will be the SU on steroids!  Can't wait!
