supernova first impression
« on: August 25, 2007, 10:03:45 AM »
ok special thanks to Chuck at lane 1 for getting me a test ball out and a suggested layout on this beauty.

ball 15# 3oz 3.75 top and 3-4 pin
drilling
pin to pap 5.5 with pin above middle finger
mb at approx 55* this resulted in the cg in palm with the mb being 1" directly right of thumb

shot THS with soft backs, heads broke down slightly

took a few frames to get a good read on the stock, drilling and matchup to the lanes.  ended up playing left foot on 45 roughly targeting 4th arrow out to the ten board, with my normal release and drying heads this was too much ball, after fiddling with release i finally soften my hand up enough to throw a 5 bagger to end first game mediocre 168 due to 3 splits, game two started in teh same spot and had a great look, one open 205 score, last game more of the same although more strikes one open 233 game

some observations of this ball.  rolls great, will definitely move off the dry  great color match up very easy to see what the ball is doing down lane.  the hit of this ball is something different, def seems to be a bigger push thru the deck then the other lane 1 stuff i have, this ball has a very distint soung to it as well.  I was cursing Chuck at lane 1 while putting my equipment away, Dang now i have to take somethign out and make room for this ball

overall this is going to be a great ball for the league shots,  the core match up to cover is great, for a particle solid this ball is nice, not being a particle fan this ball changed my mind, reminds me a lot of the the blueberry/black raspberry line, same type roll.  Drilled up strong this ball can handle some juice, even drilled with teh pin in a weaker spot like i have it it still motors big time.  only three games on ti and i like what i see so far, this is going to be one great peice in the line up

I'll add a bit more to this ball, as i used it last night in league for the first time, we were on 1-2 which tends to be a little lighter on the oil due to machine warming up, had a great look, even drilled with the pin 5.5 to pap, this ball still motors big on the back end, only able to use first game then switched to my evo, and used the evo for game two and two frames in game 3 then went back to the Supernova as i needed the recovery when i got in there really deep, 230-221-201 with 4 opens for the night, 3 splits and one missed makeable spare, the ball rolls great, looks good on the lanes and to use that old cliche' hits like a truck lol, the hit to me is very very surprising, devasting from all angles, dont know if I have had a ball that can lay claim to that, they all usually have a weak spot on the lane, and I havent found that line yet that this ball doenst like

going to be a great league peice, and with the low load particle solid cover, I think one could use this on a demanding shot as it is quite easy to adjust and smooth out the reaction depending on ones release.  If you are a lane 1 fan, believe me this is one of their finer peices they have produced, def a must have

So what is different between this ball and the Nebula or even the g-force balls??

solid low load particle vs pearl particle on nebula or pearl reative on evo
Definitely a differeing hit, lots of folks say there is no such thing, but this ball makes a different sound as well as a keeping the pins nice and low.  the hit to me seems far superior then that of my evo, the evo is great on a nice fresh shot, but if i have to get too deep with it, i might as well put it away.  where as in my opinion the supernova seems to carry well from all angles, maybe just me, but I am inmpressed with what i see so far

Sounds like it has similarities to the E.U.
