SuperNova XP vs Evolution
« on: March 25, 2008, 04:05:40 AM »
I am about to drill my first Lane 1 ball and I have a choice between these two balls.

I am looking for a ball that will get through the heads clean but have a very strong reaction at the break point with a lot of recovery and entry angle for deep inside lines on medium conditions. I want to be able to chase the breakdown left with this ball.

Which one of these two balls will best fit the bill?

Thanks for your suggestions,

I have no experience with the Evolution. But I just got my Supernova XP drilled 4.25x4.25 over the weekend and it is smooth but still has a big backend on it. It is NOT a dry lane ball as I witnessed last night. Fresh shots or broken down me-heavy's I have found it to work awesome on.

Clean through the heads, a pretty strong midlane for a pearl, and then a defined move on the back, for me atleast. Thats all i can give you right now, haven't put enough games on it. I don't think you will go wrong with either.

I have both balls.
For me, the XP is a stronger ball overall, but not as angular.
The Evo is a better option for chasing the shot inside (as the shot breaks down) and getting the ball to flip on the backend. Just my opinion.

Good description. That has been my experience with the two.

Ditto on the sentiment here.....

XP---very strong pearl, lots of midlane and an arcy backend

Evolution---very clean thru the heads and mids, very angular on the backend

The XP is a better "all around, good for a variety of shots" ball while the Evolution loves the "fire it up the boards and watch it flip" type game.

yea I will third the XP being a monster for a pearl. It has no problem outhooking my Buzz. I am thinking I drilled a little stronger than I needed. But on a fresh pattern it is great. But in light oil it is a little out of control.

I had heard some people say it was weker then advertised, and some say it is a strong pearl so i just drilled it in the middle of the road in strerngth and got a real strong ball.
