I would rather not have to sift thru all the CG DON'T MATTER stuff in everyother post.  Why bring it up in a post that's about something completely different?

So here's a post for the CG DON'T MATTER or DOES MATTER groups!

I asked you if physics changed, not the physics of the core. SORRY..!!

If you change the core, the physical properties of the core changes, but NOT THE PHYSICS BEHIND THE CHANGE..!! Please let's keep things straight here. =:^D

T-God,

The physics behind bowling have not changed overall.  Again the static weight debate does NOT revolve around weight holes.  USBC will be doing a full static weight test sometime soon in the future.  That is all.

First I have never posted in the CGNOMADDAH debate but have read most of the opinions posted. I think everyone has the right to their own opinion. That being said, I have noticed that it seems to make more or less difference depending on your ball speed. I can now only throw the ball slow(13 to 14 MPH) do to a back injury.Before the disk problems I could throw harder(16 to 17 mph). When I threw faster I didn't notice back end reactions being much different (105 degree vs. 25 degree etc.) Now that I have to throw slower it seems to make more difference. Almost the same way some people can somewhat overcome a dryer lane condition with more speed I think you can negate the GC placement by throwing the ball fast enough.Was wondering if anyone else has had similiar experiences.

If you put enough oil out there, all balls will move the same...nowhere. To some extent, extra speed behaves like extra oil.

Purdue, didn't the USBC do a static weight test already..? It did show some differences between positive and neg. side. What will the new static weight tests be looking for..?

On another note, if you move a 5 lb. core 1/8" either up from the center or to the side from the center, as it goes down the lane, don't you think the imbalance will multiply with each rotation of the ball..?

Doesn't a 1/2oz. weight on a wheel have the same effect as a 1/2oz. of imbalance in a ball..? =:^D

I don't understand why this debate keeps on going when the USBC did a ball motion study on this topic?

The Ball motion study showed there was a difference in reaction between the the positive and negative CG balls.  They showed the positive CG ball had 2 more boards of hook and was 1 1/4 ft earlier in roll.  Now I don't see how the CG doesn't matter group can argue this point?

The USBC did this test on a 53 ft oil pattern.  If the test was done on a 40' or 35' pattern the total hook would be a lot more than 2 boards.

Now of course there's other factors involved such as type of bowling ball used.  The rev rate, tilt and axis rotation of the bowler.  There's many other factors aside from those to consider.

My point is this debate is just plain stupid at this point.  Those that think CG doesn't matter then should go and drill there balls with the CG in the negative position and those that think the CCG does matter should drill there balls with the CG in the positive position.

The debate is not going to change anyones mind!  Drill your bowling balls the way you want to drill them.

I will say this and then leave this alone.

For me anyway,....if I throw the ball(release)it one way and one way only, all the time....then cg nomaddah.

But the problem is, I don't release the ball the same way, all the time! In tournaments, I may use 3, 4, or 5 different releases to get to the pocket in a desired way. Well, in those cases where I vary my release, cg definitely does matter!! Case closed.
