Taking the polish off the H2O or Tsunami
« on: January 30, 2006, 10:24:17 AM »
Are both the Tsunami and H2O pearls?  Can I take the polish off either ball to slow the skid on the ball and read the lane a little earlier?  Or maybe the EU?

Thanks.

The tsunami is solid & the H2O is pearl. Taking the polish off will cause earlier read & smooth out or even decrease backend movement. I would just take a grey scotchbrie & slightly scuff just to take the sheen off.

Thank you Sawuser.  I have three Tsunamis but only one drilled.  I was hoping the Tsunami was a solid so that I can change the coverstock on one and leave the other alone.

Thanks again.

Nic,

The Tsunami is supposed to be a solid, and I had to add polish, as for the H2O, it can be dulled a bit, but again, I sanded mined to 1000, and polished it.  As for the EU, it too, can have the shine knocked off a bit for the desired reaction.

For it to work you have to have some clean backends or a little drier lane conditions.

The above quote from Kong is just what I find.  I have read a number of posts from people who use the Tsunami on medium or even heavy, but that is absolutely not the case for me.  After trying it with a rougher surface on medium, I have settled on a 4000 grit Abralon surface (with no polish) and now have an excellent ball for a very light condition.  I have not found the Tsunami to have much ability to handle carrydown--the backends have to be decent.  On a light condition with decent backends--excellent ball.  I use it as a fallback from my Solid Uranium, which I use as a fallback from my Enriched Uranium.
