Teal Review
« on: February 21, 2006, 02:26:55 AM »
Since there is no official place to post a review of the teal saw, I figured here would be as good as any place.  Picked this gem up from JPRLane1, plugged the ball up and punched it back up.  I went with a 4" pin to PAP under my ring finger with the cg out (mainly because this layout did not put any plug material near my track).  I used a weight hole on my VAL, approximate 1" below my PAP.  The ball ended with 0 side and 1/4 finger.  I finished the cover with 1000 grit abralon.

I went out to the lanes (amf synthetics) to throw on the left over carry down from leagues the previous night (fresh is 40ft medium house shot).  I loosened up with a couple other balls, and found that my best shot was with my shock & awe (strong BP layout) throwing about 15 at the arrows out to around 5 at the breakpoint.  Anything inside and the carry-down won...  I grabbed the teal saw and moved 10 boards right, thinking this ball would be weak (it is 10 yrs old now!).  First shot, the ball checked up just past the arrows and I missed left.  I moved back to my original starting spot, playing 15 at the arrows and swinging the ball out and I could not miss.  Now I remembered what I had liked so much about the older saws...  That incredibly strong (not flippy though) arcing breakpoint!  Once I found enough oil in the heads, the ball shot down the lane and made a strong arc move at the breakpoint.  The classic old buzzsaw look that I have always loved!  If I tugged it inside a little the ball made a move a little later down the lane, but I tended to leave some weak 10's...  But if I pushed it out a touch it would start up earlier and still smash the hole.  The reaction really reminds me of my old black/c saw that I loved so much... still kicking myself for ever selling that ball.  Oh well, the teal seems to be giving me much the same look as I remembered before.

Again, thanks JPRLane1 for the ball!

Happy to hear the ball has found such a good home.   Enjoy it man.  Now just shoot and honor score with it so you can go up on the lane#1 website and beside your name it would say Teal Buzzsaw, now how sweet would that be.

Decided to throw it in league last night...  Besides a couple pocket 7-10's and stone 7's, I carry everything...  shot 693.  I was pretty happy with it for my first set.
