First off kudos to Lane 1 and RIchie for listening to the bowlers and bringing back a piece from the past that is all about control instead of just monster hook or huge backend.
Thanks again to Richie and Chuck for getting one of these balls in my hands to take for a test drive.
First off the ball is a 15# with 2-3" pin and top weight of 3-1/4 oz.
When I asked Chuck how I should drill this ball he gave me direct orders to do nothing exotic....no cg outs or Ricos or stacked leverage or anything...just a simple label shift. So I drilled mine with the cg between the ring and thumb and the pin above and right of the ring.
This left me with 1/2 side, 1/4 finger and even on the top/ bottom.
All I have to say is WOW!!! I am in love here. The ball clears the heads (even in the semi-matte box finish) and rolls silky smooth in the mids and is strong but not explosive on the backend.
This is exactly what the boys from Syracuse say it is...about perfect for the typical house shot. The ball gave me room both ways and was very responsive to hand position changes.
The backend is very smooth...not explosive like a lot of the newer stuff.
This ball will be a winner for Lane 1....great ball.
