Hybrid DB Layout?
« on: November 06, 2005, 12:29:10 AM »
Right now, it's currently drilled with pin right under the ring finger, CG is COG or thereabouts. The span is pretty small, got it through a trade, and I'm going to redrill it. I did use it yesterday in league and liked the way it reacted but it kind of seemed like a hook/set reaction. It had a strong backend which I kind of want to tame down a bit.

Anyone have a drilling in mind that worked for them? I was thinking like 2 to 2.5" pin-pap distance below bridge, CG kicked out to the right a bit w/o a weighthole. Would that be a no-no for this kind of ball?

Yeah, looking to use it as a benchmark type ball. My Absolute is too strong to keep in play for more than a few games. And my next strongest ball is the Backyard Bully which skids about 50 feet on our shot so that's not the best option for me.

Right now, the Hybrid DB gets past the arrows with ease and then revs up nice and smooth and has a strong, yet not uncontrollable backend. Anyone else?

How about leaving it the way it is. With your span, it may be perfect.

I don't really understand what you want. You say it has a hook set reaction, then you say you want to tame down the backend. Hook set means the backend is tame.

I would just leave it alone and bowl with it. =:^D

Maybe I dont know what hook/set reaction is. I think I'm gonna just redrill it for my span. I guess because it isn't my span and the holes are too big, I cant get the speed and revs I normally get and that's why I think it may be rolling out a bit. So anyways, thanks guys for your suggestions. Once I add a little speed, it'll be great.
