Anyone Else Love their Gemstone?
« on: January 29, 2010, 02:27:29 PM »
I drilled one up a few weeks back and have not really had a chance to play with it until tonight.

I don''t have the exact layout handy but it''s got the pin an inch above the ring with the cg kicked out 2-1/2" right on the midline. Weighthole is located 6-1/2" from grip center on the midline.

**UPDATE: Dual Angle Layout is: 45 x 4-1/2 x 35 **

I was hoping the Gemstone was going to be my goto ball when the Curve and Blue Death were too much. Well, I got a surprise.

I decided to put away my Blue Death and my Curve in favor of the Gemstone tonight. What I saw on the lanes was nothing short of amazing. This is supposed to be a "weak" ball...NOT! I ended up sitting on the same line I was with my Curve the night before but I was able to be a bit more comfortable with slightly slower ball speed. I had my feet on 35, targeting over 20 with my breakpoint around 10 or 12. This ball was just crushing the pins. 10 pins were minimal, no 9 pins at all and only 2 splits total.

This ball is just flat out awesome....I am going to give it another go next week and see what happens.

Great ball for playing up the lanes on a THS. Not a good ball for most bowlers if you are trying to swing it. The high RG gets it down the lane with a smooth backend and good punch at the pin deck when playing straight. Most bowlers trying to swing the lane will not like this ball as it will not have the pop on the backend they want. A strokers dream on dry to medium-dry piping it up the 5 board.

I'm with you on this one Doug. Mine is drilled very similar to yours and it is strong. Shot 279 in position round with it in our 1st quater. Love it.

I have only seen one guy throwing it.  He is a no thumb played, so he generates a ton of revs.  It works really good for him.  From what I saw it had really good hit and carry.  But that just could be from his style.
