The Golden Nugget.......
« on: November 04, 2003, 05:01:42 AM »
I called Lane 1 today because I had some questions on the drilling of my XXL and as usual they were very helpful.

Spoke with Chuck he seems really excited about the Golden Nugget even more so than when I asked him about the Cranberry before that ball came out.

So even though some of you don't like the color and some do, does it really matter.Personally, like the color or not it sounds great and if some guys won't buy it because of the color thats fine.

But when guys keep cashing and destroying the rack with the Golden Nugget it's amazing how much better it will look to them then.

To all the Lane 1 bashers on here, can you tell me that YOU had ANY input at all in the bowling balls you use???
Didn't think so......

P.S.......Anybody looking to buy a Cranberry or a Blueberry in 15lbs used with about 75 games on both let me know I need to make room for the Golden Nugget when it becomes available.........

It's GOLDEN NUGGET, not Gold Nugget.

I am NOT a Lane#1 fanatic, nor am I a basher, but my suggestion was the key. Unless the pearl proactive cover is too grabby, the C2 core would have been a much better choice than the Cranberry core. Phooey!

Yes Charlest I know what the name is but thanks anyways.I probably should go back and edit it and will thanks. As usual you speak the truth you don't bash you just tell it like it is that is to be commended. As far as the core goes I agree with you but having any say at all in what you want to see in a bowling ball is great.

Charlest, I'm behind you all the way on the C/2 Core. Big mistake by Lane 1 for not using it.

Sounds to me that the GN and the Cranberry will overlap....

I'm with Jeffrevs and Charlest, I would have much rather seen the C/2 core in the Golden Nugget.  If people wanted an early rolling Cranberry they could have taken it down to 600 grit.  I know quite a few people who aren't impressed with the roll characteristics of the Cranberry, and the highly polished core isn't helping much either.

I also still don't know how you can call this a people's ball when it was released less than a week after some shady vote that took place.

Just my $.02

I wouldn't think so, not if the GN, the pearl proactive, is anywhere close to a normal pearl proactive. Look at Brunswick's Power Groove reactive and the Power Groove pearl Plum proactive. The Plum is much earlier, but still with tons of length, but much more overall hook.

I'd expect the GN to be stronger in hook AND oil handling than the Cranberry, the Blueberry and the pearl Cherry Bomb.

We'll have to wait and see.

Of course it isn't a result of Clump's idiotic poll; I think Lane#1 just wamnted a post-developmental confirmation poll. I can only assume that they did take the suggestions that visitors to their website wrote before they actually developed the Golden Nugget.

That name is growing on me. It would make a great partner to the Brunswick Gold Rhino Pro, which was sort of a medium-light oil ball that the Emerald and the Cranberry now cover.

Bowler Bob;
Don't you think most manufacturers test or test market their products BEFORE they are released for sale to the general public? Of Course they do. Automobile manufacturers, Gillette Razors even Coca-Cola products are demo-ed, tested and market tested before release. Now if Gillette test markets a $8 razor or Coke a $1 can of vanilla coke before release why wouldn't Lane #1 test market a $200 bowling ball? No farce, the ball will be here later this month.

Like Clump said, do NOT let the coar fool ya.  I talked with Richie and Chuck, and both said dat this heah ball will out hook EVERTHIN they have, ceptin of coarse, the Supa Carbide Bomb.  Dis ball is even stronga than the BCB, moah length, but makes up for it on backend.  I was fixin to get the BCB, but am leaning towards this heah GN ball.

I would *never* buy a ball from a company that would take suggestions from someone like me.
