Title: The Golden Nugget: comments (no review)
Post by: charlest on March 30, 2004, 09:19:04 PM
While from the reviews, both professional and amateur, and many ballreviews comments (but no personal experience), I have come to believe that the Golden Nugget is probably one of the better more powerful and more versatile Lane#1 balls currently offered.

That said, I have just now seen one in person and close-up. Previously, it was at some distance.

This ball is not gold, like the Gold Rhino Pro, but a horrible, almost bright yellow. I am DISAPPOINTED, stunned even.  Except for the polish and pearlization, it reminds me of the equally ugly Yellow Sun Storm. How can you guys, who throw it, stand to look at it, NO MATTER HOW STRONGLY IT HITS?

You know I must be mighty impressed with what I have seen of its performance and the reviews, if I am still thinking of getting one. My wife already thinks I have no taste in colors or clothes matching ....

Sigh ...

Charlest, I have one and the first week i had it shot 800 series, I didn't do a review but it is one of the best Lane#1 balls out today. It is very predictible
and has very little over/under reaction. It is a bright yellow but when it is making you money I don't think the color really matters. I kinda like the color,Only down fault it picks up alot of black scuffs from the curtain, ball lifts ,etc. We have the "Heddon Vacum" ball returns which can not be cleaned due to the tube the ball comes back in. So after a time the tubes get built up with oil, dust and other trash that the ball picks up.

But i think you would love the Golden Nugget. If you don't just sell it. You will probably get your money back or close to it.

Ah, a great Name: The Platinum Nugget.
I like that; maybe a replacement for the Silver Diamond?

Oh yes..... the baby puke color ball as my wife called it when I opened my bag and revealed this gem of a ball. Maybe it's so ugly it scares the pins down. Whatever it is, this is a great ball and very versatile. I never looked at baby puke so well even after 3 kids. lol

Dog Puke at my house...lol...However, this doesn't stop me from putting the ball in my hand and "blowing the rack away". I love this ball in addition to the Uranium. These two balls have pretty much caused me to retire my Emerald for the time being.

How would the Golden Nugget compare to a Threat?

CHARLEST .. you know I have a number of LANE 1 balls .. you also know that I will never be considered  BUZZHEAD .. BUT .. The Golden Nugget is a GREAT BALL!

I really don't think the COLOR is THAT BAD! Like someone else said .. never make a mistake picking up your own ball on the rack when you use the GN!

Before buying one .. I'd shop around for the best price .. silly to spend EXTRA DOLLARS to get the same ball (cheaper)! I think you will get good games out of the GN .. that's my HONEST opinion!!

IEQ, I too had great success with my Golden Nugget. Then after I got my Uranium, it sort of put the GN on the sidelines and it only gets to "come off the bench" now and then. The GN and Uranium have benched my Emerald (which I used to love) completely. My Emerald is considering permanent retirement...lol
