Thinking a picking up one of the following:
« on: March 05, 2009, 11:03:54 PM »
for the wife.

Retro THS
Buzzbomb/R
G-Force Evolution

Can you tell me alittle about any/all of them???? My last Lane 1 was the Super Carbide Bomb. So, it has been awhile. Hell, I haven't seen a Lane 1 in quite some time.

Gracias.

agroves,

I just recently got a Buzzbomb/R and so far so good.  It is not snappy, but has a nice strong arching motion.  It fits very nicely between my Dynamo and Chainsaw.
I cannot comment on the other two balls since I have not seen them in action.  What type of bowler is your wife and what is she looking for in the ball?

I just got the Buzzbomb/R, so I'll be able to tell you next week, hopefully, what it's like.

I don't have the Teal THS.

I do have the Evolution. In box condition, it's very condition-specific for me. It is badly oil-allergic but on the right condition, it's kind of a skid/snap ball and really performs well. A teammate has one that has been dulled, and his is a lot smoother than mine but he still can't really play in the oil with it.

A lot will be determined by the conditions she usually sees, and how much hand she has. If she's low-rev and playing on a medium-and-up shot, I would stay away from the Evolution and look more at the other two. What are her stats?

I drilled the buzz R for my alter ego, lefty side to mess with, (injured right finger a while back and had to bowl lefty)
Just last week I decided to bowl the last cycle of one league lefty to see if I could do it. (had 18 games and a 14 average in that league lefty.)

ordered new shoes got them thursday and shoe'd up thursday evening (only put like a game on the buzzR before my alter ego righty decided to take over and shoot again) so I had no games in league thrown with that ball.

Practiced 2 games b4 league and shot decent, 160-180.

thought wow.
So I started league with 210, with a GB and a missed 7 pin.
went 210, 198, 165, on a 140 average....

The R worked great all night, I have lower revs lefty than righty, also slower speed, and OBVIOUSLY NOT all that ACCURATE....... LOL. but the R had plenty of move off the dry for my low rev alter ego. held nicely in the juice too with a good amount of pop to clear the deck......

My righty alter ego wants one now.........

the evo and BB/r have basically the same cover ( superflex ), and both read the mids very well

I loved the G-force line personally, and didn't seem to match up to well to the new bomb core.

Evo was one of my favorites for sure, and took surface adjustments well.

I didn't keep mine polished, left it @ 1000-2000 k abralon

Retro THS is very smooth but that doesn't maen it is for dry lanes. The ball hooks pretty good. Medium/Strong reactive with a traditional Buzzsaw core. Very predictable and a winner on most THS's as it helps smooth out the outside dry..

The Evolutions and BB/R have the same coverstock. It is fairly mild compared to other pearls we have released.

The Evolution has the W.A.S. core and starts up great in the midlane while giving great ease through the heads. The ball will be very continuous through the backend and even quite snappy on shorter pattern or drier backends..

The BB/R has a very strong core so it tends to start up earlier than the Evo and is much more angular on the same pattern as the Evo. THIS BALL IS NOT A HEAVY OIL BALL! It is great when you need that strong cored ball on a drier comdition and great on flatter sport patterns...

Hope this helps...
I have all of them for sale in 14,15 lbs..
