Has anyone of you guys lowered the surface on your chainsaw, like 1k abralon or even 800? What reaction did you get?
Also anyone with a pin under ring cg out? what conditions can you bowl on with this drilling? In other words, how much oil can you handle?
I have one that's stack, and when the lanes dry out (3rd game) MONEY! I really don't like playing down and in anymore so i was figuring that if i could drill one differently, i'll win alot of money
any input would be appreciated, thanks!
P.S. please do not under estimate the carrying power and control of the chainsaw. 1 split (3rd frame) away from 300 last night and that was a release issue (266) threw a 273 last week.

why don't you just get another one and try it then? Just curious...

You did remember to put some soothing bubble bath in before soaking the ball, right? If not, there's your problem. Lane 1 balls are obviously female (diamond core, cost more, high maintenance, etc.) therefore, if the bath was not to her liking, she probably got so mad at you she cracked her shell. It's the bowling ball way of busting that throbbing vessel in her forehead...

Yep..... it's box finish

I agree. With a weaker cover and low differential, your options are limited. Even with surface adjustments, you'd be lucky to get a ball that would handle much more than medium oil effectively. By the time you really got it really dull, it would hook so early it wouldn't be worth much. If it had more differential, you'd at least have the option of more or less flare to help the ball read the lane at different places. You could do 2 or 3 with some different pin positions (at least high and low) with different surfaces and cover dry, light, and medium.

You can get 3-piece balls to flare with certain drillings, i.e. leverage with low hole. I'll bet you can get this ball to flare much more with a leverage drilling and a balance hole 3 3/8" past your PAP. Try it with a 0" pin ball. =:^D

I've tried my Chainsaw at 1000 grit abralon, and the difference is minimal compared to box finish. Keep in mind that my Chain is drilled with a 6" pin to PAP, but still, even at 1000 abralon, the ball allowed me to at least play down 10 on a fresh housish shot. Compared to box finish, if I remember correctly, I was about 5-8 boards left.
Hope this helps!
