The REAL reason why people bash Lane #1
« on: January 07, 2004, 10:24:12 PM »
Well, there are actually 2 reasons.

First, Any time you say that a product you use is better than a product someone else uses they are going to argue.

Second and more important, all the "Buzzheads" take the bait everytime.  It's just damn funny to pick on Buzzsaws.  If you are comfortable and confident in your equipment, why do you care what someone else says? (refer to reason #1 is you are unsure)  Especialy if they have never thrown a buzzsaw.  You guys are probably the type where if someone who has never met your mom, calls her fat, you'd get upset.

I've never thrown a Buzzsaw, and I could care less what anyone wants to spend their money on, I only read these posts because I think it's funny.

Aw heck, I'll even get in on the act a little myself.

Buzzsaws are overpriced and they suck!!!!

Why do people feel the need to continue digging up the stiffs over and over again?

Some people have valid points but this is just retarded, people attacking others over a stinking urethane sphere!

Don't complain if you're not throwing them!
Don't complain if you're not buying them!
Don't complain if you're not selling them!

As a matter of fact don't complain at all, every human has free will and will do exactly that, whatever he wants to do.

Who cares if there are people out there paying $250 for a bowling ball...

...Are you???

...And 9 times out of 10 Saw Heads aren't unsure about their product, they're generally pissed off these topics are started up day after day for no apparent reason...

"I wouldn't characterize that as "rising to the bait." I would characterize it as expressing disgust at the infantile responses on both sides of the bickering."

If you are sick of it, why do you respond?  Didn't your mother ever tell you that if you ignore someone being childish they will get bored and stop?

Brimar, I may be wrong here, but don't think I am......I don't think you bought a Quantum 12 years ago because I don't think they were available until somewhere around mid 1994 which would have been 9 1/2 years ago. I bought one the first part of Sept. 1994 for $150. Two weeks later I bowled a non sanctioned 300 with it and a week later bowled a sanctioned 300, so the Quantums were worth the cost to me. The bottom line here?..... The Forest Green Quantum matched up to me well and Quantums made after the Forrest Green did likewise, the same as the current Buzzsaws do now. That's why I threw Quantums back then, and thats why I throw Buzzsaws now, so price has nothing to do with it . It is a case that a ball either matches up or it doesn't.

I always read this forum and I just cannot stand that people always insult lane 1 users as a fool, I am a new user of Lane 1 product for 3 months,
I don't under stand that kind of people always attack someone's favourite, I spend my money for my fun, so, what wrong with your guys ? if you are really thats good, you don't need to use high-end balls. just use your 50 bucks to buy cheap stuffs (USA open 2001 is a good example), why someone buy benz but someone buy prosche ? different approach for different expectation, right ?
In fact, the reason why I use lane 1 ball is :- I really can read the ball clearly, I don't like MC2's ..etc stuff, I like symmetric core. sometime I feel that MC'2 is really can hook but the hitting/carry power is sometime what I don't expect, especially on spotty/carrydown situation, but when I use Lane 1, I can read the no man zone on this kind of lane easily and I can have my adjustment quite quick, this kind of confident help me to battle another high-end ball using like storm and ebonite, sometime the mc2/mb make the ball too unpreditable on bad oil conidtion lane.
Also, the coverstock of the Lane 1 ball is quite imporatant as all ball in brunswick ! I have experience that my pro-shop operator help me to resulface my Cherry bomb without my asking, finally he kill my ball with so shiny surface (may be 2000 grits), who make this just like a house ball with no hook (I can see the ball is really spinning very quick but just skid !). the 2nd example is I found someone have brought the Carbide by high pay and he drill the ball with his often go pro-shop which don't sell lane1 product, I saw the ball so dead and see they drill the ball with 3 X 2 with a deep small weight hole  ???  are they going to tweak down the core and take the weight out ? and the pin distance is 3. so may aggressive drilling they can apply.and the pro-shop operators just told him not to buy lane 1 ball again and just ball their storm ball next time,  how they bias the ball ! if I want this kind of steady play, I don't need lane 1.but I just don't know why some pro-shop operator like to drill their selling ball in some agressive way but drill some other they don't selling ball in bad way, their is a lot of thing a pro-shop operator can cheat you, even the static weight, pitch and let you kill your ball.
So, I think the point is not just you need to throw a lane1 but also you need a drill that should match your style (you should have good understanding on drilling symmetrics core ball). then if lane 1 really cannot match your style, just ignore it and go ahead with yours favourite, it is very simple to understand as someone like chinese food but someone like western but the aims is help you out of hungry.

Preface: I'm neutral, this is just a sociological observation

People who "foolishly" (notice that word is in quotes) spend extra money on luxury cars are not portrayed as "suckers" (again, notice those quotes) but "lucky" or in the case of super luxury cars like Bentleys, "rich", "loaded", or "privileged".  Many people find spending $40,000 on a car to be a "waste of money" while others wish they could while still others do so without a second thought.

Why should bowling balls be different?  I would guess my sociology professors from college would say that cars fall into the category of "conspicuous consumption" and bowling balls do not.  (Or do they?)

Well Ragnar....consider your hard work for something my friend.  Notice how I have NOT STARTED FIRING OFF MY WITTY BUZZSAW 1-LINERS?  After having my azz handed to me by a guy using a Brunswick Edge, I have decided to rise above the petty bickering, for the time being at least, and get on with my bowling game.  Luck to you all
