to start off first lane #1 ball ever drilled. I hate it could not find any condition that it would work on. A lot of over under, would over skate on oil and over react to the dry. and as far as hitting power did not stand out like I was expecting from what I have heard about lane #1 balls. I should sell it but like all my other balls I don't because you only get a fraction of the money invested back so to the closet it will go. Worst ball experience I can recall in a very long time.

like mine alot..med condition ball polished, or heavier oil if i scuff to 1000. if you dont want the over under problems.....either put the pin about 4" or keep some surface on it. i think its a very nice ball overall/

Thanks guys....I was just asking because I ran into what I would call a slight problem with the one I was going to drill.

I was hesitant to drill an asymmetrical ball without knowing where the mass bias was. So I took the ball and had it spun on a Determinator.Well, the mass bias is a good 50* right of the pin thru cg line.

The only way I could drill the ball without ending with negative weight would put the pin at roughly 3-3/4" to my pap and the spun mass bias near the VAL.

Opinions?????

 Doug,

Did you spin it from both sides of the Determinator?  The reason I ask is, is this ball is a z-spinner with I'm guessing a fairly high intermediate diff (like a Hammer no mercy). Spin it again and use the spot between both spin marks as your theoretical mass bias.  Also, the mark will probably end up about 5 1/2" from the pin, meaning the pin is not the really the low RG axis on the ball. Go 6 3/4" from the mb mark thru the pin and thats probably close to where the low RG axis is.  Then layout with your desired layout, hopefully the CG will fall somewhere decent.  For anyone that has drilled one and it rolls like a turd- try a huge p4 balance hole, I was actually able to get one to spin on it's y-axis and it rolled much better than without the hole.

Not to bash Lane 1, but this ball should never had made it out of testing stages because most pro shops don't have the tools necessary to drill this.   You must have a Determinator or you are just guessing on this one.

We ended up with a PSA 6-3/4" from the pin so we made the assumption that the spun PSA was in effect the REAL PSA for the ball.

I am thinking it may be worth it form to just send it back to Lane 1 and say, "no thanks."

layed mine out using the pesudo pin idea which is what they told me at bowl expo. mine is 45x 3 3/8 x 30 with a p4 hole to remove the thumb weight and make it stronger and it hits like a truck for me and I have little hand and lots of speed . for me it is a good ball  finish is out of the box.
