BS, err, BadShot,
I have always found the Pro Purple to be a model of consistency, impossible to make it flip, always hooks, more or less according to the oil, 110% responsive to any change I make in release or speed. It is not a dry lanes at all. Medium-light is the lightest oil I have ever dared to use it on. Medium to medium-heavy oil is its forte (depending on your "hand"); I have been able to use it on true heavy oil, but that was strictly by accident. It is nowhere near a hard hitting ball, but if I cannot get to the pocket with any other ball, I was always able to get to it with the Pro Purple. ALWAYS.
I'd suggest it does not hook on dry because it is grabbing the lane too early.
I'm not sure what you mean by "hook up"; it is not a expression that is used locally.
