What ball?
« on: March 11, 2007, 11:17:42 AM »
What ball should I get to fit over my H20?  I'm a stroker with med revs and med speed.  I just got my H20 the other day and my two series with it so far have been  654 and 658.  I bowled in my first travel tournament with it today and won! woo  But I'm sold on Lane 1 now and want some input.

I would go with the solid uranium or the G-Force. If oob finish is too aggressive, they both polish up nicely.

Dirty Bomb is stronger than the H2O .. Enriched Uranium is a good choice .. above them comes the G-Force ... or wait for the new ball

Solid Cobalt is also a choice to consider

Second that... Tsunami is a very versatile ball... Coverstock can be polished... dulled... What you need.

I think if you want a step-up ball the Tsunami is a great choice.  It is a solid so you can play with the surface easily.  The ball does need to be kept up, but as Charlest has said in other post, you should keep up on your ball maintenance whichever ball you choose.

I think whatever ball your second ball should be, it should be a solid and not a pearl.  The only reaon I say that is because you can do so much more with a solid then you can a pearl so far a cover prep.

The Enriched is a great back end ball for me.  I set it up twice and now I'm going to try working with the second drilling.  A few games on it now and when it hits the dry, it turns the corner very hard.  The Tsunami is a little more forgiving.

The Black Cherry Bomb is a great ball but not really a step up but a jump up.  The ball is very vesatile though.

I like my polished G-Force.  with the pin about one inch over the ring finger and the MB next to the thumb on the strong side, I get fairly good distance and a strong reaction on the back end.

Good luck finding a ball that works.  I think though you can find a good used Tsunami within reason to try though.

If you are playing mostly on THS patterns, my next choice would be the HRG. Suggested drill...pin below ring finger (approx 4.5" from PAP), and swing the CG out (approx 60 degrees). Weight hole in the thumb quad (2" down on VAL). Since you are a stroker (as opposed to a cranker), you may want to scuff the shine off the HRG to get it to pick up a little sooner. The HRG was good for me in OOB finish, but it became a GREAT match when I scuffed it. Since scuffing the surface, I have found HRG to be pretty versatile over a range of conditions.
