F.O.S. Members JPR needs help!
« on: October 25, 2005, 05:33:45 AM »
Well guys I am sitting here toying of the Idea of selling all my NIB stuff.  The truth is I am a really bad bowler right now and I don't see myself improving.  At my best I shot 700 once and 600 4 or 5 times and only carried a 180 average.  Its not a slump and I don't have to motivation to make myself better.  I bowl one league a week handicap 3 games and thats it no practice no nothing.  My day time job is a joke but I still have to show up which leaves this time out for practice and now I work two nights and one weekend day at the shop so my free time is less than normal.  Could I practice if I wanted to sure but I don't.  I love bowling, I love technology and thats why I am leaning towards drilling and coaching so I can stay part of the game itself and push my own physical game to the side.  I want to be involved in bowling the rest of my life I want to make others games better and I know my own personal limitations.  So what should I do should I sell or hold, I am kinda tired of holding them.  As I see it if I punch every ball I have and throw them the normal 15 or 20 games before I decide to let them go am i not just ruining them for the true bowler or the true collector.  The balls old and new would include:
***All are NIB 15#
1. PRO PURPLE BUZZSAW x 2, 2to3 pin and 3to4 pin
2. Cherry Pearl C2, 3 pin
3. Cherry Bomb Pearl, 3to4 pin
4. Blueberry, 3to4 pin
5. Solid Uranium, 2to3 pin
6. Tsunami, 3to4 pin
7. Golden Nugget, 3to4 pin
8. Dirty Bomb, 3to4 pin
9. Hybrid Dirty Bomb, 3to4 pin

***I think to make myself feel better I will sale all the current production balls I have.
$150 shipped to the US.
Dirty Bomb, Sold to Mediumrevs.
Hybrid Dirty Bomb
Solid Uranium
Tsunami
$225 shipped for the 2to3 pin PRO Purple, SOld MI 2 AZ.

I could punch them and I throw it good enough to get a feel for the balls but why waste them on my game.  I am not sure if I will ever quit bowling all together I quit once and came back with renewed energy but that only lasted for about a year.  If i continue to bowl or quit and come back it doesn't matter because all their new stuff is awesome too.  So guys what would you all do in my shoes.  I spent time and top dollar collecting these but I just don't see the point anymore.

***Thanks for everything guys.  Right now I am keeping the old balls for sure I am still undecided about the newer ones.  I did agree to sell one of the pro purples since i had two of them and I did agree to sell the pealr dirty bomb since mediumrevs needed one after having his equipment stolen.  I will hang on to the other new ones for the time being.

Jesse, I've been down the same road many times.  I know you don't need the money so just keep everything.  It's not like you have to feed them or anything.  Believe me, later on the bug will hit you again.  Just finish the year out on your leagues and have some fun.  Try different lines each week.  Limit the number of balls you take to league and work on hand positions.

Bowling has its ups and downs.  Believe me, the game wouldn't be much fun if we always bowled up to our expectations.

JPR:

That is excellent news. Give yourself some time, and stick with it. I know how frustrating this sport can be, especially if you really burn to get better. I look forward to leagues all week, and when I struggle it really depresses me, especially if I lose to someone whose technique is terrible. As I said previously, try a blow off league, or perhaps a league in an entirely different house. The house I bowl a couple of my leagues in, couldn't be any less friendly to a stroker like me, and it was really starting to bother me, so I joined a league in a house with a diffent shot just to offset the previous house.

Just remember, steady practice and effort will bring with it steady improvement and "Luck". Ignore the bowlers with crappy technique, they may put up big games here and there, but they have traded future progress for a few high scores now, and some of them are trading those scores for a shortened bowling career and shoulder, elbow and wrist injuries.

Good Luck

Just so no one thinks that I took advantage of Jesse's momentary weakness,   I did advise him to keep all the balls for a few months before making a decision and if he still wanted to sell, then I would buy the Purple, but he said he did want to sell one of them.
