Buzzsaw C/Carbide

What's the OOB surface on this ball?

http://www.bowlingballreviews.com/ball.asp?ballid=710

Picked up a new one last night and I've already taken 15 micron trizact to it.

(I didn't want to post a negative but this has been here for a while.)

I don't think it was 600 grit (15 microns) but I don't recall what it was exactly. Might have been 1000 grit. Too bad Lane#1 doesn't have that piece of info somewhere on their website. Hmmm, they say "Lightly polished":

Hey, if you paid $300 for it, they'll even guarantee that you'll like it! Heck, so would I!!

Make that 10 micron... I know that isn't the OOB finish, which was a sheen of sorts.  Don't worry about me paying $300 for it, I'll never pay full price for Lane #1 equipment...

10 microns is like 800 - 1000 grit.
(Save this chart: https://www.micro-surface.com/default.cfm?page_id=174)
Still fairly grabby.

FYI I think that ball is old enough that you do need Trizact pads to affect the particles. Sandpaper and Scotch-Brite will affect the resin base. Those particles are very grabby and usually made for a fairly early rolling ball; thus, the reason why they used a light shine on it and Brunswick almost always used the white, cerium oxide pad on them.

I have the full set of trizact, and as far as I'm concerned the 10 micron pad (blue) is roughly 1100 grit.

When I got the kit a while back I put the micron level and approximate grit level on the top of each holder. I don't recall what source I used at the time, but this compilation supports what data I had found close enough.

http://home.earthlink.net/~litefrozen/bowling/bowling_grit_chart.pdf
The following are the numbers I have on the holders...
A35 = Green ~ 360 grit
A10 = Blue ~ 1100 grit
A5 = Orange ~ 1600 grit

Funny. Ironic.
The Trizact chart is what I gave to "Storm Track" (ballreviews userid) originally:

Ironic?  Nah... I think I know where I originally got my information now, LOL!

I had one back in the day when it was still on the current list and I would go with the 800 grit! It definitely had a rough feel to the surface! Thanks, Bruce

I'm leaving it at 15 micron (1100 grit) seeing as it's still playable on medium oil if I don't miss left.  Somewhat surprised that it recovered and hit that well when I was swinging it out on that condition.  I expected it to pretty useless at that house.  On heavier oil or shots that have carried down I'd just have to move right and play more of a down and in shot.
