BuzzBomb Mini Review
« on: January 15, 2008, 01:59:37 PM »
First I'd like to thank Chuck and Richie for getting me this ball ahead of time and taking the 20 minutes to talk to me regarding layout and coverstock prep.

Pre-drill Specs:
Gross: 15-3
Top: 3-1/2 oz
Pin: 3-1/2"

Layout:
5x4
pin over ring, cg just right of stacke4d
no weight hole

Our test lanes:
40 year old wood, resurfaced 2 years ago

Oil Pattern:
38 foot tree with buff to 45
15 to 15 has about 50 units
outsides taper down to about 6 on the edges

Bowler specs:
righthander
350-400 RPM's
approx 15.5 MPH

I started off with this ball in box finish and tried it out. Just stood left and tossed the ball at the gutter...the logs made it VERY easy to see where the ball started hooking....that was about 20 feet. Revved very hard for the next 15-20 feet and then made a VERY strong move to the pocket.

I have got to say this ball moves harder at the break than any solid resin ball I have ever used. In fact this ball's move on the backend is about as angular as anything I have ever thrown...Pearl Cherry Bomb, C/2 and Silver Diamond included!

Now this ball does move...A LOT! But it will recover from anywhere...it is just plain sick. I was able to cut my release and play it "straighter"...ok it still covered 20 boards. Very responsive to release changes and the patented pin-punishing Buzzsaw hit. Just plain awesome....

You can find pics of my personal ball and layout in my Arsenal section....

Comparisons:
Special Agent....BuzzBomb is 4-5 boards stronger than my similarly drilled SA
LevRG...BB has more backend and overall hook
No Mercy Beat'n... more angular than the Beat'n and a whole lot more overall hook

I am taking pre-orders of this ball for $180 shipped.

Drop me a message if interested in more info or would like to place an order!

Wow.  I have been away for a while, but this sounds pretty amazing, especially from one of the guys I remember as a voice of reason (Doug).

I have a Special Agent that is my go to ball for wet/fresh league shots, and love it.  If the Buzzbomb really is THAT medieval... *salivates*

Also, I thought I saw where someone wrote that this was the same cover as was on the RotoGrip SD-73; is that accurate?  I recall when I drilled my SD-73 that the coverstock material was super soft, pushing the limits of the USBC minimum hardness.

If the Buzzbomb indeed uses that cover, I predict bowling pin Armageddon.

I cannot say if the cover is the same as the SD-73 or not. What I can say on my 2nd day of use is that I am MORE impressed now than I was yesterday.

I hit the ball with a 1000 grit Abralon pad and a light coat of Track Magic Shine. I was thinking that maybe I didn't have the oil the ball needed so I tried to get it to conserve more. WOW!!!! This ball woke up even more...

The deeper I moved, the more the ball snapped. I am telling you guys this ball is just amazing. I was able to play 4th arrow with some hand and tilt or I could lay off the ball, move right and lay it up the oil line. Just amazing versatility and responsiveness to release changes. I cannot say enough about this ball.

You can visibly see the ball rev up at about 25 feet and continue to rev until the end of the pattern at 45 feet and then the ball just explodes to the pocket leaving nothing but shrapnel in the pit.

Forget the Super Carbide Bomb.....forget the G Force solid....forget the Nebula....forget the Special Agent.....the BuzzBomb is here!!!!!
