First I have to say that this isn't the most fair circumstances to write a review. Last night I was having trouble with both knees and, as a result, eventually my back, resulting in some very poor execution. BUT, here we go.
Layout: Pin above and between fingers, CG swung out about midway between grip center line and line from pin to PAP; for me a 5 x 3.5 layout. 3" pin. Smallish wt. hole just past PAP (PAP for me = 5" over, 3/4" up). 1/4 oz. finger wt, 3/4 oz. side.
ME: power stroker, about 18 mph ball speed on this shot, prefer to play outside.
SHOT: PBA E, with about 2' extra length (so 37' overall), on 2 yr old Pro-Anvil.
In spite of my poor execution, I REALLY like this ball. Compared with my Silver Streak solid that I've been using on this shot it's about a board stronger over all, but a different shape. Very smooth and even thru the heads and mid and revs up quickly when it starts to read the dry. Goes longer than the SSS by about 4 feet and makes a smooth hard turn to the pocket. If they can be compared I'd have to say that the Uranium doesn't hit quite as hard as the SSS, but still very impressive. I was hoping for something that I could go to when the SSS became too much - this may be it, even though it can be made to hook more (see discussion of hand positions). It may well replace the SSS as first out of the bag because it seems more predictable and more amenable to release changes; not squirty, very even roll. I used this ball all three games and in so doing found it to be very amenable to changes in hand position. By the end of the night I was playing the right by standing on 24 and turning the ball hard, playing about a 5 board swing out to 2 board. On the left I was standing at 21 and using a completely up the back release pretty much straight up the 2 board. Either way the same general characteristics were evident.
Richie, this is a winner.
