I don't even own a polished SCB and the unprofessional handling of this issue by USBC annoys me. I think I will buy an additional UNPOLISHED SCB and polish the heck out of it just to show my opinion of the illogical handling of this issue by USBC.
I have seen several posts, dumping the blame for this on Lane #1. I do not know the complexities of releasing a new ball, and neither do these posters. The fact remains that I am confident that Lane #1 believed they where following the rules when they offered this ball to their customers. No company would spend money and time on a ball, if they thought that the ball would be rejected. The USBC response was hastey and clearly not well considered, as evidenced by the fact that they immediately backed down from the Unpolished SCB. Their response to the logical argument over the Polished SCB has been nothing short of crossing their arms and pouting, like a child who had his feelings hurt.
If USBC wants to be THE governing body of bowling, then they need to raise themselves above an emotional, childish response over this ball. I expect the governing body of an organization to be logical, reasonable and professional. This is clearly a petty stab at Lane #1 for offering a factory polished finish in a ball that they wish wasn't on the market anyway.
Shame on you USBC, how does this childish stab at Lane #1 increase the INTEGRITY of bowling or your organization.
