Title: VIPER PEARL

Hi

i have this gem drilled for short oil and it's an awesome ball (Thanks to doug sterner for the info), i doubt to find one another nib so what's the nearest ball in the current line. Chainsaw (if still available)?

Any info is appreciated.

I had the Viper Pearl and regret ever selling it.  Since Lane 1 isn't using Brunswick covers anymore, I think you'd be better served by looking at an Avalanche Slide or Avalanche Pearl.  Core specs are similar and cover on the Slide should be pretty close.

Or a Slingshot.

I think the Avalanche pearl (green/black one using PK 18 pearl) is much stronger than the Viper Pearl.

Slingshot has a higher RG than a Viper Pearl.  I also have the Slingshot and while it is a nice ball it does not have the same motion or hitting power.

 

Slide was my first choice.

I mentioned the Slingshot, because with the same drilling I find the SS more even and arc-y than the Avalanche Slide, with both handling the same amount of oil. My friend's Viper Pearl is more even reacting and I figured a strongly drilled SS (mine is drilled very weakly) would be more similar.

While the Viper has little to no DIF I find the surface to be quite strong at lower grit levels.  Mine at 800 grit plus snake oil and a strong layout hooks a good deal preventing use on lighter oil.

 

Yes mine is even reacting, probably could get away with a Chainsaw, Slingshot, or Avalanche solid (regular) depending on your layout and surface choice.

I love my Viper Pearl.  One of the hardest hitting balls I own.
