I am impressed with the 3 orginal G-Force balls and the roll characteristics with a 1:30 label leverage drill. For this more up the boards bowler, these 3 balls give me length and strong arcing movement on the backend, although the Evolution is tad more angular when it hits the dry, for the conditions they are designed to be bowled on. My question for the gurus, is how does the Bomb core differ from the WAS in reaction shape if at all. A fellow bowler does not like his Dirty Bomb and wants to sell it to me as I am the only bowler he has seen using Lane1. With all the discussion about the drill problems with the BuzzBomb, just wanted to know if it would give me a different look in reaction shape. I love the 1:30 label drill for my game but have stacked a few in my time as I here this is better for the Bomb core. Very happy right now, but for the price, might want to put it in the closet for a latter day. Any input would be great!

I have both balls. Just drilled up the Evo, and bought a used, low-mileage Dirty Bomb -- my first experience with either core.

The Evo is going to be a nice piece, I believe. It covers about the same types of lane conditions as my Tsunami, but goes about it a different way. It is cleaner through the front and more angular (which you would expect given it's a pearl). The Evo is drilled label.

My first few pitches with the Dirty Bomb, however, I did not like. I haven't used it enough to see a pattern of what it is/isn't doing, but I'll let you know more when I do. It's going back to league with me this week for some more testing.

I've been warned that the WAS core is much akin to the Buzzsaw core as to who likes it and who doesn't. The Bomb cores, I've been told, are their own deal. You might like WAS/Buzzsaw cores and hate bomb cores.

I've got some work to do before I can make a determination but at this point, I think there's merit in that theory.

130 Label will work on a BuzzBomb BUT make sure you get one with a lot of top weight....I mean like 4-4.5 oz. It seems that all of the problems people have been having have been with lower top weight balls.

I cannot explain why 2 oz would make a difference in a ball that has such a strong core and cover but it does on this ball.

I love my BuzzBombs and I love the NEbula and Evolution as well. I am not as in love with the original G Force anymore although i am sure it has something to do with the sheer awesomeness of the BuzzBomb.

The question is since Lane uses the same basic shape is all there cores, how can one core not work for someone  when they have other Lane #1 balls that do ?

No matter which one of their balls you look at, theres still the basic diamond, correct ?

If the diamod is so versitle and the easy rolling core, how can one "just not work" fo someone  that has used other Lane #1 balls with success ?

The answer to thatquestion is quite simple actually.

Eventhough it would seem that "a diamond is a diamond" the reality says that isn't the case. Let me explain....

The original Diamond and the Uranium series diamond are the same size and shape BUT they are made of distinctly different materials. For many people the heavy cores (low RG) like the Uraniums don't roll as well as the lower density (higher RG) cores. Add in the Uranium HRG with it's dual density core and you have differnt RG numbers again.

Now if we look at the Diamond cores of the old balls you see the mini-nuggets nested within the core itself thus changing the dynamics of the cores. A single central mini-diamond like the Silver Diamond will lower the RG and cause the ball to rev up better in the midlane. Add 2 mini-diamonds stacked and you get a different dynamic. Separate those diamonds and you get yet another slightly different roll.

Now the Tsunami and H2O had the dual mini-nuggets but one of them was offset to provide a weak mass bias.

Add in the WAS core and you get a longer and thinner core thus changing the core shape and thus the dynamics again.

The Bomb cores are the same deal....original BOmbs were single density. Then they added the mini-nuggets to get the Cherry Bombs anda SUper Carbide Bomb. Fuse the 2 mini's into one and drop it in the lower 1/2 of the ball and you get the Dirty Bombs. And now we have the BuzzBomb with it's dual flip blocks and single density core.

So while the shape itself isnt drastically different the dynamics of the core will change based on it's rotational dynamics.

I don't know, either, but I have that same question for all ball companies. How could I succeed with every FE2-derivative core Storm ever produced but I can't do jack with any of the El Nino-series cores?

It's definitely a combination of surface-drill-core but for some reason, some things work and some things don't. With the diamond core, which is a d*mned simple design compared to some of the things out there, it's even more maddening to me because not only do I think I shouldn't be seeing such a drastic difference across balls, but the layout becomes incredibly important.

I've had multiple copies of a couple of different Lane #1 balls that came with pretty even specs and would have one work and one not. That either means the company pouring them (Brunswick, in my case, as they were older balls) couldn't do the job properly or this particular core design is touchy, touchy, touchy when coupled with changes in surface and drill pattern.

This is THE only company I test equipment from that I drill off a drill sheet. Otherwise, I use the Dual-Angle technique or something I already have in my head I want to experiment with. I don't have the answer, either; all I know is it's so.

Good Response Doug, I was thinking that it was the density that made them different.

Now my question is, when you say they change the density, how much weight are we talking ...couple ounces ?  1/2lb ? 1lb+ ?

The difference in weight from an original Buzzsaw diamond core to the Uranium diamond core is noticeable just by holding them in your hand.

I do not know exactly how much it is (I only have the uranium core here) but when I was at Lane 1 a few years ago I held the various cores in my hands. The Uranium core was noticeably heavier.....If I had to guess I'd say  around 1/2 pound but I cannot back that up solidly.

Just a consistancy thing I believe.  For me I love the normal Diamond Shapped cores and even the W.A.S. cores.  But the Bombs haven't worked well for me.  It's all in your style I guess, for me I just like the smooth rolling balls and don't have allot of luck with the snappy Bomb core balls...
