Anyone have a "thumb leverage" drill on a Lane #1 piece?
« on: May 02, 2008, 06:43:12 PM »
Specifically, one of the Dirty Bomb line of balls?

I have a Hybrid Dirty Bomb coming to the house that I picked up dirt cheap and I may try what the drill sheet calls "thumb leverage" just for giggles.

Opinions?

Jess

Jess,

You have a "relatively" low track. If you drill it as seen in the pic, the pin will be in nearly the same place as it is now with the stacked drill. All you will be doing is swinging the CG out a little.

I would suggest either a rico layout or pin under ring with CG out and weight hole in the thumb quadrant. Don't worry about rolling over one of the plugged finger holes.

This isn't on your old Dirty Bomb -- I've got a NIB Hybrid Dirty Bomb coming that I wanted to experiment with.

I did some surface adjustments to your old Dirty Bomb last night and if it doesn't work, I'll convert it to Rico next week.

Given your stats, I would recommend the same with the Hybrid. Having those two balls drilled the same with different surfaces will give you good coverage.

The Hybrid I'm getting is a long-pin ball (about 5 inches), so I'll have to see when I get it whether I can play with the angles and even put a thumb leverage drill on it at all.

I measured your Dirty Bomb last night, by the way -- the drill works out to 2.5 x 1.75 with my PAP. No wonder I was having trouble.

Even with my short PAP, though, I cover a bunch of ball circumference. I'm kind of a strange bird.
