Water Anyone?
« on: June 01, 2005, 09:12:06 AM »
Well I got both the H20's I ordered yesterday (Kudos to Beans)and after much thought I punched just the one of them today and I have not thrown it yet.  I will be practicing with it tonight on our sport shot league.  This is the first night so we got a meeting and then usually like two games free practice on the pattern.  Not sure what its going to be they do use same pattern entire league since it is only 11 weeks.  I have been bowling like pure crap but I will try and see what the ball can do at least.  Regular house shot scratch league next Monday night to test there as well.

Starting Specs: Total Weight 15# 3oz., 2to3 pin and 3.7 Top.

Pic of Label:

Drill:

I usually do all my stuff Pin over as I have slow ball speed and high track but I had a somewhat short pin and the ball itself is really long so we stuck with the pin and just put it under as you can see.  I had a pin under TPC shooter once and I did like that ball.

My pap is close to yours 5 1/2 over 1 inch up, i will have my water tomorrow and throw it by this weekend also. My has about a 3 1/2 pin so pin over ring cg 1 inch positive for me, being close to .030 diff it should be a good choice to replace the xl and emerald that i got rid of and wished i had not. I bought local for a decent price nothing special but within 10 bucks of online guys after paying for drilling, so i would rather support my local shop when i can.

Good luck quenching your thirst, fellas.  I have been eyeballing the H20 for some time now and I can't decide whether to get one or just punch up my Emerald or Silver.  Let us know how it goes!

Hello agian Seth.  Well first of all this ball is Long and I mean long, plenty of length, now granted only thing I thrown on so far is a sport shot and it tends to be heavier anyway plus its on AMF hpl lanes.  I will throw it on a house shot/wood lanes Monday and get a better feel for it.  I am definitely happy with how mine is drilled.  Seth keep the pin under your bridge maybe even below and a little right of the ring but definitely below the ring,   put the MB in the strong position no more than 2 inches off your thumb,  CG will end up in the middle of the two and of course with MB balls it not as important even though this is a weaker mas bias anyway.  I am very pleased with mine so far.  This is a fairly tame ball but don't take that the wrong way, it will hook its just all going to be in the backend of the lane, but its not a jerky hook.  The only other big backend pearl I have really thrown is the cherry bomb pearl but even it was earlier and stronger than the H20 but also it was drilled a little stronger as well.  Overall I say very good cover and core in this ball, hit is that of any other buzzsaw GREAT.  Pics don't do it justice Its a relly nice looking ball, looks better than the Uranium Pearl to me.  I think they managed to replace the emrald,XL,XXL all in one new ball.

Thanks for the reply, Jesse. I purchased the ball directly
from Lane #1 and requested the specs previously mentioned.
Since the ball has a 3 to 4 inch pin placement, what will be
if I drill the ball with the pin above bridge, with the MB
about 1 to 2 inch to the right of my thumb. I wonder,
with this drilling am I getting more skid/flip reaction or a controllable arcing
reaction ? One of my Uranium Pearls and previously owned Pearl
Cherry Bomb is drilled this way. The reaction I got from both
balls is a very strong arc into the pocket on medium to light
conditions.

Seth thats a good point I actually wanted a longer pin out myself but am kinda happy its shorter, with a 3to4 pin you will most likely have to go over the bridge or the MB would be way below your thumb, the ball is going to really get a lot of length for you and probably willl limit it to a true dry lane ball in this case, which there is nothing wrong with in my opinion. Anything pin above is going to go longer, but this ball shouldn't snap on you especially with your style.  I think that drilling would be fine. Thi ball is definitely stronger than my bullet and weaker than a Uranium Pearl I once had so Lane#1 hit it right with this one.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll get the ball
drilled with pin above bridge once the package
arrives.

Not yet buddy, Only box condition so far, but mine is fairly weak unless you got way too many revs or just pure burnt lanes I think polishing it may shoot it through the break point.  I have't been able to put many more games on mine yet, I haven't got the thumb just perfect yet and one of my grips is just a smidge too tight.  I hope to iron the kinks out and start putting some games on this badboy.  I just cant get the Pearl Dirty Bomb out of my hand though, I am throwing it everywhere right now.

I would definitely wait Karl like you said till league and or tourney and then it still not happy hit it with a little polish.  Besides you can always knock the polish back off a bit by hand as needed with scotchbrite thats what I do.

Got mine almost a week ago. 3-4 inch pin, 2.7 oz topweight.
It was drilled stacked as suggested by my driller. After 4 to
5 games, I found that this drilling is too strong for the condition
it was intended for (medium to light). Plugged and redrilled
with the pin above bridge, CG and MB kicked almost 2 inch to the
right (almost like CG out layout). Now this ball just skids further
down the lane and hits the pins like a sponge cake. Plan to
relocate the balance hole, since it was not plugged yet from the
previous drilling. Maybe the balance hole relocation and coverstock
tweaking are needed to make this ball move into an earlier roll.
I am struggling to match this ball with my style of bowling.
Any inputs are welcomed.

Update on the H20. Relocated the balance hole 2 inches down
my PAP. Previously it was above my PAP. Now the ball has a
slightly early roll, just what I was looking for. A
nice arc into the pocket. For your info the
new drilling is something like 5 x 3. Looks like I am
able to match my game with it now.
