Liberator question...
« on: February 07, 2008, 12:59:49 AM »
Alright, so i keep  hearing this ball is a lot more than some thought. They say it burns in the heads and then obviously doesnt hook, my question is...with the cover being at 600, y not just take it up to say 1k, 2k, or 4k. i had a blue gargoyle (urethane one) and it didnt move unless the heads were dry and there wasnt a ton of carry down. not sure the cover on that, but it was highly polished for sure, so im thinking when i get a liberator im just going to take the cover up...

sound good?

Depends on the conditions you face, and what you want it to do.
On a medium hose shot with dry outsides, I can use the Liberator in OOB surface. It turns on the dry and then lays off on the backend. I have an XXL (polished urethane), and that ball is a Liberator on crack! I have not had either ball very long, but I was floored with the snap of the XXL on the backend. Don't get me wrong...it's not like a polished reactive, but I had no clue urethane could boogie like that!

So...in answer to your question...I would throw the Liberator in OOB surface first, then polish as required.

. . . we were on a tournament and threw the ball inside 25 out to about 7
. . . my teammate, Todd, coaxed the ball to Hook! Hook! Hook!
. . . and was amazed that it almost made a left turn and striked

I would agree that it is allot more then I thought it would be, but didn't have an issue with it burning out...  I am gonna take it to 1000 and polish it before next week though....

Ryan don't believe that. It is a very surprising ball. I may take mine up to 1000 grit and/or add polish. It is a bit much OOB on lighter patterns. As is, it flat out screams on wood!
