Trying Lane 1

which one should i get? i considered getting both but I really wasnt going to buy a bowling ball right now as I have bought a ball this summer and intend on buying the Desperado. but I was on vacation won a little money in the casino now I want somethin new and I am going to go Lane 1, havent had once since the Cobalt Bomb. what do you guys suggest. i was thinking the dynamo x2 or the gemstone?

What kind of reaction are you looking to have?

If I had to choose from the two new releases, I'd probably get the Dynamo x2.  Seems the original Dynamo is a really good piece too, I just never got one to throw.  
My Chainsaw Massacre is a pretty good ball for me right now.  That is more a medium oil type ball.

On the other side of it, I don't know what to expect from the Gemstone.  It is priced lower, so you wouldn't have as big of an investment.

I agree with Tateman,

The Gemstone has the Dynamo 2X cover and only half the weightblock.  The weightblock in the orginal Dynamo is tremendous so I can only guess the the Dynamo 2X will more user friendly on a THS condition. The Gemstone with the same cover would seem to be a ball with more control.

All this is just guess work because I have not thrown either the Gemstone or the Dynamo 2X.  I have only thrown the Dynamo. But i think this is what is intended for these two bowling balls in Lane 1's lineup.

CGuSuK gave a good recommendation for the Dynamo that I agree with. I probably wouldn't go with the original Dynamo as first a Lane#1, but maybe the Dynamo X2, since it will probably be more versatile over a broader range of conditions.

For any foray into a company's offerings you haven't tried before, I would suggest something you can tune to a wide range of conditions. In other words, stay away from the balls geared for the extreme ends of the spectrum (heavy and light oil stuff).

The Dynamo gets raves from just about everyone who tries it. I have not yet tried it myself. My favorite of the current (or recently current offerings) is probably a Supernova XP.

The Gemstone is going to roll similar to the HRG form what I have been told by Lane 1

Why do people keep trying to compare Lane #1 to other equipment.....when there really is no comparison

Best Prices in all of Colorado on Lane #1 equipment....

This is not true, The X2 is a Hybrid Solid and the Gem Stone is a Hybrid Pearl.  They are not the same covers.

I do agree about the Dynamo though.  I love my OG Dyno and have been dying to see another Dyno come out, and finally got my wish..

personally before you work out what you are looking for in the ball , you could get a feel for the diamond core with a ths , if you like it then you could work from there in ball choices ,,

well there is some holes in my arsenal that i am trying to fill i carry 6 balls but just recently went adult after bowling youth in college. I was the youth bowler who always wanted whatever hooks that most and i could get by then but I cannot any longer. For the last year I have making a transition to a better selection in my equipment. The three holes I want to fill: 1) something that will give me a skid/flip i heard the gemstone might help 2) i weak reactive or urethane that will help me on drier or burnt lanes 3) and something that will generate a good reaction in medium condition or carry down like my strong reactives something i expect from the x2
