Matching up
« on: October 02, 2007, 03:55:04 AM »
I am a little disgruntled. Has anyone else experienced a change in their ball matchups since the seperation of Brunswick and Lane 1? My personal favorites are;
-Original Super Carbide (not bomb), works great on anything medium to full juice.
-Tsunami, best carrying ball I have ever owned.
-Pearl U, great benchmark
-Dirty Bomb, when I need a little more recovery than the Pearl U.

All of the above improved my game due to pin carry. All of the other Big B covers were real close.

Since the change in cover stocks, I have thrown;
-HRG, good carry but not very forgiving.
-Solid Cobalt, rolls great, reacts good, carry is not what I am used to.
-G-force, don't like it
-Evolution, same comments as Solid Cobalt.
-Nebula, don't like it.

These comments are not meant to slam the company at all. I am just feeling that Lane 1, for my game, is not matching up as well as it used to.

I am interested in anyone else's thoughts or conclusions.

I actually love the new GForces, Evo, Neb, GForce and SuperNova

to me, Evo is very close to the Pearl Uranium though it skids a bit longer
Neb is a my go to ball for down and in shot
GForce, not enough oil lately to use it

SuperNova is my versatile ball, from down & in to a swing shot.

they all kept the same Lane#1 charactertisc which is pins are kept low.  I have not used those BigB made balls for a long while.  overall, I like the new products .. they hit the same and provided variety of shots to play.

by the way, the Cobalt (both) are made by BigB

hrg is great on the right shot with some cover pret
evo is money, similar to pearl u and h2o
suprenova, is even more money, similar for me to the black raspberry
all in all the new line up is pretty good, I think the hit is better time will tell if cover stock is too

I'm fine either way.  Sure I love my BigB Lane#1 balls, but I like the BigC stuff as well.  And currently my most used ball is the Solid G-Force, which I shot a 730 with last week.  Now I didn't care much for the G-Force EVO, but then again I ended up sending my Solid Cobalt back to Lane#1 cause I didn't like it.

in some ways BO I find the new covers/cores to be or seem to be harder hitting then those from the past, maybe just me I dont know.  The G force line was is great, the new supernova, although poured by global is still the same cover forumulation base as that on the Evo and nebula, even tho columbia did two and global one.  the new supernova core in my opinion is fairly close in reactionto the orginal C/2 cores I love so much

If true, that would be great. After discussing with Chuck, I have a Supernova on the way. I, too, love the C/2. It's first test will be on Chameleon.

my evo has a fair amount of games on it and no noticeable loss of reaction.  my supernova really doesnt show any tracking at all, the covers seem really robust.  Remember they are an old formulation used by columbia years ago, with a ton of those balls still in use today.  Durability I do not believe will be an issue with those 3 balls at all (evo nebula and supernova) the solid is the only one with a differing cover so who knows about it, the others have a very time weathered proven coverstock base on them

First, I'll get this out of the way...Roy, I hate you :-)

Next I have seen a few things over the years. Again these are my observations and are not intended to be taken as gospel...

Brunswick covered balls tend to work VERY well on synthetics due to their increased midlane roll.

Columbia covered balls work great on wood due to their smoother and later reaction.

My all time favorite ball is the Emerald Buzzsaw with the Blueberry a close 2nd. However the Evolution and G Force have treated me well once I tweaked out the surface. I am really getting to like the SuperNova as well.

The new coverstocks across the board are like a 426 Hemi.....they need constant attention if you want them to perform at their peak. The old PowerKoil covers were more like a 350 Chevy...solid and reliable. They didn't require a lot of maintenance  and kept on performing.
