Just got the Cobalt
« on: March 24, 2006, 02:05:52 PM »
Took only four days to get to cali from buddiesproshop. Anyway, the ball is 15lbs3oz, 3.2 top weight and just about a 3 inch pin. This ball is really nice looking, best looking ball by Lane 1 in my opinion.

Any suggestions on a good drill is welcome. I'm a stroker, med. revs and with a ball speed that is on the slower side.

i would suggest something similar to the layout on my original inferno for slower ball speed, see my profile for a picture.

the layout offers forgiveness on the backend, and still finishes extremely well.

So you're saying pin above ring with CG still in the palm? Hows the roll with this kind of layout? What I'm looking for is the big backend everyone is raving about.

the big backend will come with the core/cover combo itself.

i really dont think you want to enhance it anymore than it is already.

move the pin 2" right, and it will be an uncontrolable mess as soon as it hits 6" of dry boards, and look like plastic with carrydown.

up to you my friend, if you want a cheaper alternative with max backend, try a smokin inferno with brunswick's 1L layout, but i think doing that with the cobalt will make it a $200 condition specific ball.

Here's the drill specs for the CB. What would you lean towards?

I drilled mine Pin directly under Ring finger and Cg swung right 1 1/2" that worked great for me but i have the abillity to change up my speed with slower speed i dont think you would be able to control it

Got the ball drilled and went straight to a tournament, no practice, right out of the box for 209, 201 and 254. This ball has a great backend and others have said, but can still hold a line if tugged slightly. I think my pearl uranium has a bit more hit because of the denser diamond core, but the Cobalt is a great ball.
