if you had capacity to take 8 balls to league with you,one being the plastic xxxl.......and you just purchased a dynamo and chainsaw,,,,,,,,what would fill the other 5 spaces...............CHOOSE WISELY LOL

Just the Dynamo, Chainsaw, and XXXL should cover it all. That's exactly what I'm taking every week. Sometimes I'll sub one out, just to get a different look week to week. Take those and save the rest.

I bring 5 on a regular.  Only because I just take my 3-4-5 roller.  I might as well fill all the ball spots if I'm taking the whole roller.  I usually just use one or 2 balls (when lanes dry out) and then a spare.  But I bring all 5 (4 and 1 spare)

Man, I ain't never left the house with more than 5 balls at one time...and I can't recall ever using more than 3 or 4 in one night, especially not in league.

Well, all I use to have was my 6 ball roller, so I use to bring 6 with me too.  Now I bring 5 since I have my 3-4-5 ball roller.

unless it's like my league....a sport shot league with dif. patterns each week, I would say you only need 3 manybe 4 balls to an average league..

if you have a 5 ball roller:

1 heavy (dyno)
2 medium (one solid and one pearl with more bite)
1 light (OG c'saw)
and one plastic.

DEPENDING WHAT CRAPPY CONDITION THEY GIVE US AT OUR CENTRE.ANYWHERE BETWEEN 36 AND 40 FEET,I NORMALLY CARRY (NOW) DYNAMO AND CHAINSAW XXXL.THEN I CARRY MY OLD STARTERS ENRICHED URANIUM AND PEARL URANIUM.........MY EMERALD AND H20 SIT IN THE CAR WITH MY LABEL NUGGET,,,,,,,,WHEN I LEAVE FOR BOWLING I SEE THEIR SAD LITTLE FACES AND CAN NOT BRING IT TO MYSELF TO LEAVE THEM HOME LOL............I ROLLED IN A TOURNAMENT HERE ON THE WEEKEND AND THE ONLY SHOT I HAD WAS A STAND 25 DOWN THRU 10 WITH THE EU........DYNAMO WAS GOOD FOR THE FIRST BLOCK BUT AFTER THAT I COULD NOT CARRY CORNERS TO SAVE MYSELF LOL....................

Thanks for the clarification!!! Lane #1 has taken me from 179 to 200 as well...






If you ask him, they are the reason he's carrying that average..

Otherwise, he'd be a 160 bowler. He's increased his average by 19 pins!!

If you can't find it with 4 balls, regardless of conditions I'd say you Just can't find it. I know this guy who shot 300 and decided he'd buy every top of the line ball out afterwards.  I mean, the most agreesive balls on the market.  Barley carrying a buck 80 now.  WTF!!  Says the balls wont hook nevermind the fact that he only puts 2 revs on the ball...

well for m and ms they sure hit well . Lol . I suppose i am better working with the new and retiring the old . If someone knows a way to send a 345 roller my way to oz let me know otherwise i am carrying 3 totes  again lol .  I think ive  done well . I seem to have a reply from everyone on this topic . I will lock in my best 6 for all conditions and maybe sell the rest . Any offers lol . That was a joke fellas .

mate all advice is taken on board and the mud slinging is all a bit of a laugh too . I love the enriched uranium and am still learning how to play alot of conditions . My 39 th finish on the weekend was my best so far and i held my own with some of the better bowlers . My mate troopertroy and i were the only lane 1 s on the deck so i thought we held our heads high . The gear hits harder than the rest in my opinion . Thanks for your input

well tonight i went in with my dynamo at 4000 no polish...........thing is nuts on our ths................can not keep it on the lane first game 165...........hrg pin under cg kicked next for a 204.....clean game.......third game chainsaw same drill as hrg 227.......all spares xxxl..........enriched in bag.............could probably get it down to 5 main balls i,d reckon.............................CHAINSAW IS A MONSTER.......first time out tonight

I can't say anything I have a lot of equipment but I would hate to take that many.

I never know what to expect where I bowl and take 5. Then I get tired of that and stick with 3 some weeks. The times I'm throwing the ball good it doesn't matter what I have I know I can score with it.(great positive thinking) When I'm bowling bad summer can't get here soon enough.

I always look at tournament and league play the same. Have a little variety.

A strong solid shinned, strong pearl, medium pearl, and maybe one ball with a little surface. That makes 4, so to fill 8 double each.

I use any ball for spares as well.( if dry I use the medium pearl more, avalanche pearl)

There is some real truth to the OLD saying "it's not the ball, it's the bowler". Take it to heart!

If you're only bowling three games, at most that's 36 frames. That means you're switching balls every 4.5 frames if you can't find it??? WOW.

I happen to have a 4 ball roller, so I carry 4 balls. The stronger ball and middle ball get used for one league, the middle ball and weaker ball for another. And the most used ball in the bag - always - is the spare ball.

That's it. In the very best of days, I'd carry 6 - but for the same reason - NEVER all on the same night.

I'll say this in defense of the topic...one of the BTM coaches this month has a column talking about this very thing and how the attitude of "THS is super easy, never change balls" is actually a fallacy.

I take six just about anywhere I go. For tournaments, always seven and sometimes eight (depends on whether I can fit it in with the luggage).

However, that's deceiving. One of the balls is plastic, always gets used. The other five that go to league are all very staggered in regards to layouts, surfaces and intended conditions. And I virtually never use more than two of those.

However, on some nights it could be Nos. 3 and 4 (1 being the strongest, 5 the weakest). Other nights, 4 and 5.

The point is, you have the tools available even if you don't use them. There are nights I've stayed with one the whole night (including the spare ball -- I only use plastic to shoot the 10 and maybe the 6). There are nights where I could have 50 and it wouldn't have mattered.

Changing balls for change's sake is not smart, but neither is being stubborn about switching balls just because you're "not supposed to" on THS. Working under the assumption that we're supposed to be trying to shoot our best score every game, why not use what you've got?

the big question here is.. a family bowling together with a bus load of buzzsaws who average 150  . Were they having fun , did they enjoy their day , because if they did enjoy themselves , and had a great family day bowling , who are we to criticize , they could of been throwing coconuts down the lane , as long as they enjoyed their day ,,

i better check the price of plane tickets lol , sluggo . I continually take 6 every where i go . Different drills work better for me . 1 label 2 stacked 2 pin under cg 45 deg . From solid to pearl to pearl particle plus a plastic of course . If you worked out a persons game in dimensions most would be three dimensional   you would classify mine as 2 dimensional . There is always a pattern that stumps me no matter what . Lol . Thats life i suppose .
