LANE 1 $$$ AND CENTS
« on: November 05, 2003, 10:16:40 PM »
I am sure this will get those in the cult truly enraged but out of curiosity I checked out some Lane 1 prices today from several Websites.   THERE IS NO WAY THAT I WOULD EVER PAY THAT MUCH FOR A BALL.

Wow, are they expensive.  I though Mo-rich had the corner on big $$$$$ but Lane 1 surpasses them by far.  Don't tell me you notice the Buzzsaw hit difference.  I can and have seen more scouts with a range of mid range balls thrown at proper entry angel than any 200-300 dollar buzzsaw will ever get.

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it......

Not that I am a cult member, but what site have you been on that you had to pay $300 for a Buzzsaw?

Haven't we seen this issue ad nauseum on this site? Nodsleinad, if you don't want to buy Lane #1 DON'T. No one will care or notice. Stick with the $90 Monster line (and there is nothing wrong with mid price balls, in fact many are GREAT balls) but as far as raising this stupid issue again BUZZ OFF.

Hey Nod thanks for letting us know that you WILL NEVER PAY THAT MUCH FOR A BALL.

The topic of price of Lane 1 equipment is really old.If you don't want one don't get one.I'm sure none of us will lose any sleep over the fact that you don't want to buy Lane 1 equipment.Maybe you should move to the drive up window instead of the counter doesn't that pay more?

I see guys all the time come into our shop and buy 2 balls for far more than the cost of one Lane 1 ball.I am constantly resurfacing and polishing their equipment some guys even have me polish their equipment every week and at $12 bucks a pop they have already spent more in a month polishing their balls than the original difference in price with Lane 1.

While I clean my Lane 1 stuff after every night of bowling and polish my lane 1 stuff about one time a month.I bowl in 6 leagues in 4 different houses plus tournaments so my Lane 1 balls do get used alot.

So I guess value and performance in bowling balls are in the eye of the beholder. To you they are to expensive, but to me paying $30 to $50 more for equipment that doesn't need constant fiddling with is well worth it.Even though I'm sure many people have stories about how other ball manufactures equipment never get touched either.

Ooh! I could get a Fear Factor and Erase-it both new on ebay for under $300! I couldn't afford a buzzsaw for my life. Damn, I wish I could though...

I tell you what,

You give me $300 and I'll get you a buzzsaw.
I have not seen Buzzsaws going for $300 online.  If you are paying that
much, then you are getting taken to the cleaners.

Please, EVERYONE, stop replying to this time and space waster. The price of Lane#1 balls has been beaten to death. Let those interested go back in time and read older posts.

Gimme a break, Nod, this is old hat.  Enraged?  Not even close...

For all you guys who once upon a time heard from a friend of a friend that Buzzsaws cost $300+, here are Buddies prices for the entire line:

Super Carbide Bomb   $190
Black Cherry Bomb     170
Cherry Bomb           170
Golden Nugget         170
Cranberry             155 (special price)
Emerald               150
Silver Diamond        140
XXL                   125
XXXL                  110

For comparative purposes, the X-Factor and The Thing are both $125.  That's $45 less than the BCB and the CB.  That's $45 less, not $145 less.

I really believe that some pro shops either actively discourage people from ordering Lane #1, or they think they can make an extra few bucks for themselves, because the customer is obviously willing to pay extra for a ball.

I just KNEW that www.Blockbusterbowling.com would NEVER have Saws on their site for that much, and NEITHER would www.dougsproshop.net  I know the owner, and I also know that IF they wanted to and needed to, they can match ANY online price!!  Nodsleinad, if you really want to try a SAW, to see their priceless value, I would contact Doug Sterner here, or call the 800 (by the way, they will even cover the cost of the call) for BBB.  These are the only two (in my order) that I would even deal with.  Way to go Dougs proshop and BBB.

Another way to look at it is this...  you buy a buzzsaw... yes, you may pay an extra $45 or so for it NIB.  When you get rid of it... it still has some value!  The low end stuff is best off being donated to the junior leagues (or pitched in the dumpster).  The mid grade stuff... maybe you get $20 and shipping...  But buzzsaws are still worth some money...  so even if you pay an extra $40 to buy one, you still get most of that back when you sell it.

Its sort of like buying a new vehicle...  you can get one w/ cloth seats or leather seats... when you get sell them, the one w/ leather is worth a lot more (plus you get the luxory of having it the entire time).

So, if you look at the overall picture, no they are not much more expensive.
