2x6 Tsunami???
« on: December 28, 2007, 02:13:54 PM »
I am looking at a ball to fit into my arsenal and replace my Hole Pounder Pearl. I love the drilling on the ball and the reaction it gives me. If I drilled a polished Tsunami with the pin 2" off the PAP and mass bias under the thumb (roughly 6" from PAP) would it fit???

I am really struggling with fried backends lately and I am hoping to find a Lane 1 ball to fit. I just happen to have a used Tsunami sitting here and was thinking about it....

Well guys here's what I can say....

Strider....the only way the HRG will flip is if you pick it up and toss it into the air....well unless you have big hand and are on an extreme wet/dry block.

Ish...thanks for the input...I am leaning in this direction.

Nova...I get what you are saying with the HRG and I really wish I had not ever sold mine. I was trying to work somehting out with a ball I already had in the shop. Money's a little tight right now and didn't want to order an HRG from Lane 1.

Here's pics of what the Tsunami will look like laid out for the drilling I want. As it sits there will be 2-1/2 oz of sideweight so a fairly substantial weight hole will be needed.

Sweet!
I will not be the only guy willing to put a monster crater in a ball to get what I want out of it. I had to make a crater in a Solid Uranium (for a CG Axis drill), and guys laughed at me...right up until they see the ball work on a pattern where they have nothing to throw.

doug, very close to my semi pin drilling ball, ask Chuck about my tsu, he can attest to the control the ball has, he and i threw together in jersey a year ago and from what i remember he was pretty impressed

I am just closer to the val with mine. pin on val 1.375 from pap, cg 1/2" left of val with a huge crater in that location, mb happens to be roughly 5.5 from pap, ball gets great length (better with a dose of track black magic) on fresh even with my heavy hand it is money up ten, on a broken down shot it loses nothing in deep

Doug,

I had my Tsunami drilled similar to Triggs and it worked very well in the drier stuff. I had mine in box finish and it was just one continuous arc. It did get finicky for me if I didn't get the release right and would not hook and leave flat tens. But it should work for what you are looking for. The other option would be a B/G Centaur for what you want. I have been playing around with mine and it just rolls all the way to the pins. I am going to polish it up a bit and see what it does there. I have to agree with charlset on this ball. Great for dry lanes.

Happy New Year Doug and everyone.

Well I did it....hit the ball with a 1000 grit Abralon pad and added 2 coats of Track's Magic Shine. I then drilled the ball out just as I had it in the pics.

With the layout the ball had 1/8 finger, 1/4 top/bottom and 2-1/2 sideweight.

I put the balance hole (15/16 x 3") on my PAP and got the sideweight down to 3/4 oz. Finger weight is 1/4 oz and there is 1/8 bottom weight.

I then took the ball out to the lanes and WOW......it's what I wanted. The ball is super controllable, won't snap if I bend it in half and I don't have to throw it 500 MPH to get it down the lane. The lane condition was a fried out 2 day old light oil shot.

In short I am liking life at this point....cannoit wait to try it on the regular house shot.

Thanks again to everyone for the suggestions.....
