I never understood either, you can get a good reaction out of other companies balls(if not better, much better) and save a good deal of cash. But if people are willing to buy them with their prices that high, then why not sell them that high?

The main reason is overhead, Brunswick not only provides the coverstocks for Lane 1 but they also pour the cores as well, every other company makes their own cores. Lane 1 has to overcome the cost of paying Brunswick double the expenses which in turn raises the retail price to the consumer. It is all because of the manufacturing cost, not because the balls are better.

as Hussman said above you can find them for the same price or even cheaper
than other ball if you look around.  buddies and a few others has them cheaper than quite a few ball in my local pro shop which doesn't even carry lane 1.
example: professional 205.00, formula 190.00,,energy 185.00.

It is because bowlers will pay for them. That's called a market. By the way, one could also start wondering why ALL bowling balls are that expensive...? Must be ourselves, I guess

You heard wrong twist.

The bottom line is they can charge what they want to charge within reason, obviously they can't get $300 plus for a ball well not from me but yes they can get what they wanna get and make money oding it so why not.  The car analogy was good in that,  sure you can dive a chevy or a ford or a dodge, is that the only kind of car they make no, do mercedes and bmw and lexus cost as much as chevy ford?  No they cost more are they better cars maybe maybe not all in the eye of the beholder.

Also whoever else said about there prices not being that badif you look this is very true and they have actually come down a little.  There was a time in my bag when I didn't have a buzzsaw I paid over $130 plus drilling for, gee how much do other top end balls cost with drilling.  I have seen NIB saws on Ebay lately for buy it nows of $148.99 and $158.99 and comparble these are pretty darn good prices.  A lot of people write Lane#1 off without even throwing one or even seeing one roll, they hear Buzzsaw and htye say oh those are the overpriced brunswick knock offs right.  Or people say I don't like brunswick why would i like lane#1, turst me we hear all kinds of stuff.  Some people of course don't even know they have anything to do with burnswick coverstocks.

The bottom line is if you have tried a buzzsaw and didn't match up well with it then fine you can knock it.  But don't knock it if you really don't know anything about them.  They are on the cutting edge and they are still small which means they still car about the little man.  They are very helpful and very knowledgable.

This topic is repeating again and again, like a never ending
story. I have tried most brands - Ebonite, Brunswick, Columbia 300,
Storm and lastly Lane #1. My conclusion is Lane #1 suits my game
the most. Previously, I do wonder why Lane #1 equipment are very
expensive. After trying a Lane #1 ball, I find out this is the
equipment that I am going use from now on. Just as JPRLane1 said,
justify the equipment after you have tried one. If a new one is too
expensive, why not begin with a used one. Just getting bored with this
topic. Sorry guys.

Well, like others have said, it's because they CAN.  If I owned a company, if I could charge more, i sure as heck would.

BUT, is it worth it, THAT is another issue, and there is NO answer to that.  They work well enough for some that they WILL pay the extra, but likewise some people don't do well with them and use other stuff.  It's all about opinion.

Jabroni, you've got yourself nailed.

Actually, you got a few things right. Richie charges what he does because bowlers are will to pay. Simple supply and demand.

What you don't get is the demand part of the equation. Lane#1 customers (at least the ones I know) have already been through the various lines of Columbia, Storm, Track, Brunswick, etc. They know ball reaction (good and bad), and they understand their personal strengths and limitations as bowlers. They're simply not the yahoos you'd like to portray them to be.

They all got hooked on Lane#1 because they gave the product an honest try and liked what they experienced. In the 6 months since I started using Lane#1, I've been averaging well over 230 in leagues and tournaments. Yea, it's been on THS conditions, but I don't care. Between side pots, brackets and place money, I've made more than enough to pay for several pieces of Richie's 'overpriced' product. Price is relative to value, and what you don't get is that for many of us, Lane#1 delivers.

That's probably the best response I've ever read regarding the topic.  Not just trying to say "the patented cores are better than everything else" or anything, simply stating that it works better for someone which is why they use it.

Lane 1 is expensive because people will pay it..nothing more.

Brunswick also pours the cores and makes the covers for Morich....their balls are about the same as everything else, and have a lot more technology in them.

As someone said before..it's supply and demnd...as long Ritchie knows people will pay too much...he will charge it.  As soon as people quit buying them..the price will come down....trust me.
