Why do some internet sellers put the price ???
« on: January 09, 2007, 08:41:46 AM »
of their bowling balls shipped and others say message me?  Do they think they can get more money if they talk to someone because they are a better sales person?

Both Triggerman and Drillwizard put their G-Force bowling ball cost shipped anywhere in the US (not including Alaska or Hawaii I'm guessing) and others who want to sell them say "Message me".  Are they giving a secret don't tell anybody deal.

I won't deal with people like that.  If you want to use Ballreviews as you selling place especially the Lane 1 forum (which is not a ball for sale forum) then at least have the courtesy to post the cost as well.

Shawn,

I live just outside of San Diego and I use exactacator thumb slugs and Vise grips.  Having the Exacatacator thumb slugs alreay made up helps in drilling the ball.  You can drill a bowling ball for me within 5 minutes (except the layout)  I know not everyone likes the Exactacator thumb slug, but it works well for me.  The shop does this for me even with internet bowling balls.  They figure they make 30 dollars a ball and they don't have to stock too many bowling balls.  I know it doesn't work for everyone, but the shop owner is a retired Sheriff.

If I got a ball plugged completely and re-drilled it only costs me 48$ including grips. That's also because I have been a repeat customer for about 5 years...other than that he only takes about 5-10 dollars off. So it would normally be like 55$

My driller normally charges people $40, but since I am a good/repeat customer he charges me $25 and that includes thumb slug with me furnishing finger grips.

I know Alvin Lou gets $60 for drilling a blank ball off the internet.  So its amazing how prices differ.  I bowled in a house in St Louis where the guy got $10 dollars for sanding or polishing a ball.  I don't pay anything but our pro shop charges $2 and most around here charge $5.

To keep this thread Lane 1, I just drilled another Megaton yesterday with the pin left of my PAP about 1 1/4 and the CG straight across in the middle of the fingers and thumb.  Is the the drilling referred to as semi pin axis?

Ok,I've been reading this and its time to clear it up. No shop is to list pricing on a forum per Lane#1.This is why you don't see prices on here from me or ASB. I'm sure if the business identity of the other people mentioned was known by Lane#1 they would be told the same thing. They may end up learning the hard way if they continue to post pricing.

So Buddies putting the price of the G-Force on their website is ok.,

Sorry Warren, I'm much rather do business with Drillwizard and Triggerman then you or Beans.  Thats just a personal choice, not trying to sway any business becuase you also have a great rep.  You just don't add anything to the Lane 1 forum in my opinion.

Thats fine,to each his own but I don't see any pricing listed in Trigg's preorder post. I honestly might not be able to reply to every post someone puts up but if someone messages me then I make sure to answer there questions to the best of my ability. I think my rep speaks for its self and I'm happy to help who I can.

I live here in Dallas, and I use a molded thumb in all of my gear. My driller can punch up a ball in 10 minutes, that does include the layout using the degree method. The only thing that takes time is the fingers, since i don't use grips and we make sure that the edges stay sharp after cleaning up.

I thank you guys for the kudos. I do my best to keep you guys in the know as far as your questions go. I know I have not been around a lot lately but I have been running thru some rough times in my personal life and that demands my attention right now.

As for the pricing, there are 2 reasons why you don't see people list prices...

1. It is true that Lane 1 doesn't want us posting the pricing for preorders simply because they don't want the price gouging to get out of hand. Personally I like to post the price and that tells everyone what I am going to charge. I don't like playing games and it's easier on me to do it that way. Unfortunately, Lane 1 doesn't want it that way.

and

2. Some guys do not post prices so that they can intentionally undercut the other guys. Guys who post their prices run the risk of any buyer do some window shopping and doing the "Hey, Johhny Q, I want to buy a G-Force and I can get it from Stevie S for $XXX.XX. How much from you?" And then of course Stevie quotes him a lower price. Well then the buyer goes back to Johnny Q and says "Stevie S will sell me one for $XX.XX. Can you match that price?" And he continues to play the game until the buyer is satisfied with his price.

As for the new releases, pretty much everybody knows what I charge for the new releases...it's always the same.

Lemme knowif I can be of more assistance.
