Will the BCB work in carrydown?
« on: December 10, 2003, 07:49:45 PM »
Since I'm buying a new ball (BCB) and this is my first Lane#1 product, will the BCB work in carrydown? I've found that I have the best reaction with reactives. But, reactives by nature don't act well with carrydown. I'm going to have it set up to roll somewhat early with a "strong" move to the pocket (more of an arc). I'm thinking this should allow me to work around any carrydown that I might run into. For those that throw the BCB what do you normally use the ball for/on?

the BCB has quite a bit of track flare, and does well when there's carrydown.  i wouldn't necessarily suggest a drilling that makes the ball roll sooner.  set the ball up for more flare potential.  just my humble opinion.

also, congrats on your ball choice!!!  just be prepared to throw all of your other equipment away!!  (i just had to say that!!)

Mine did not do well in carrydown at all with the factory finish.  I would suggest sanding it some (or at least take the polish off) if you encounter carrydown quite a bit.

Message Sawbones as he has had tremendous success with his BCB, including carry down, I believe. Also he has been able to play deeper than he normally can. Ask him about the drill layout, and if he did anything to the cover as well as hopw well he likes it. You can also ask Saw Mill, T-God, and Nicanor about carrydown on this ball.

Keep in mind that it is also a case of the bowler matching up to the ball. For example, some people have reported problems with carry down with the Emerald, while I have never had any problems with carry down on the emerald. I would guess the same goes for the BCB.

King, when you say "Maxed", are you saying it is drilled "stacked leverage" with the Pin beside the ring finger?
