XXXL vs Clear Buzzsaw question
« on: August 25, 2006, 06:48:53 PM »
I had a 14lb XXXL ... But i went to 15lbs and I am gonna drill another XXXL, but I am gonna drill up the clear one if its the same ball..

XXXL flares 3-4 inches and thats what i want.. XXXL was my spare ball...

Is the clear one the same ball?  Flares good for a plastic ball?

Based on watching Richie throw a Red and a Clear the red hooks a touch more. They have the same core though so the difference was either the drillings or the difference between the covers. Can't say for sure but he made both of them look good whether using them as a strike or spare ball. He was using both on pattern E.

Actually the clear ball doesn't have the same core... due to the magnification properties of the clear ball the core you see is only a few inches tall versus the full size core found in the red XXL.

This is explained here...

Ok now for some facts...

XXXL Core = 7" tall...
Clear Core = 6" tall..

Clear cover is a tad harder.

From what I have seen, the Clear ball is about 3-4 boards weaker overall.  The two balls im comareing were drilled identical, with near exact same specs.

I have both my Clear and my Red XXXL drilled the same pin pver the bridge and Sarge Easter...

The clear ball goes longer than the Red XXXL does and moved about a board less...I can use either for my spare ball but the clear just looks so cool going down the lane...

The clear ball is cool looking.  I seen one in the pro shop earlier in the week.  I might pick one up as my spare ball.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe these balls are being made in China.  But not 100% sure.

All clear balls are made in Asia. The chemistry involved seems to be too hazardous to do in the US without major investment.
