XP, first impresions (300 game in second set)

not ready for a real review as I have not had my hand in the ball but for two games on a used up shot.

lanes are synthetic overlasy 40ish feet of oil ths, punched the ball up on sunday, got to hit the lanes after about 14 games of youth bowlers on it. so backs a tad soft, but the outside still violent

Me:
pap 5 over up 0, 17 mph, 425 plus revs
ball:
15# 3 oz with 4.5 top and 2-3 pin
drilling:
pin in ring, mass bias even with thumb 2.5 inches right of thumb, basically 4.5 pin to pap, mb at about 50*

first impressions:  smooth on the lanes, did not over react up front, but once to the dry the ball moved and moved hard, tremendous hit and carry, great looking peice on the lanes as well.  I will be throwing this ball on 4 different shots/surfaces this week, will be posting up a formal review of this ball on friday.  so far very impressive, as what i have seen thus far this ball will replace my off colored cherry c2, great looking addition to the supernova line, cannot wait to put this thru the paces, short amount of time in my hands, it has garnered attention like you wouldnt beleive.  will def be a big seller/must have

NHP cover is not the same as the original's, Trig...it has additives too., for today's oils..the core numbes are different, yes...the XP probably has a bit more midlane roll as a result...but the cover question, in my mind, is still up for discussion...

what lane #1 told me is that they came up with 4 variations of the coverstock formulations, with different additives which did different things, they settled on the one the used as in their ppinion it is slightly tackier and earlier on the lanes

But you see, the problem with "superflex" is that there is old, new, with additives, without additives, and it's still...superflex...

The NHP reacts on more than just super clean backends. And if you remember, Phil (newguy) said in a post about the Black Nighthawk that there was an additive added for today's oil...so if they added pearl to the Black Nighthawk's cover...it would be like the original NHP with an additive for today's oil.

It's confusing, I know. Hell, I'm confused.

I'll check on the NHP's cover.

Official word --

NHP's cover is the Black Night Hawks with pearl, meaning that it is straight Superflex with pearl.

Sorry for the confusion, everyone, and sorry, Trig, for being insistent. I was confused, like I said, by Phil's comment, but, after speaking with Eric, all has been made clear.

I was wrong, and I admit it. Deal?

Hey revTrex...FYI my in house on the shelf price for all of Lane 1's balls is $215 drill with inserts and slug.....only $10 more than a Paradigm, One, Inferno, Total NV or Shift.....

Go figure......

big news, big follow up for this ball

Tonight I shot my first ever 300, I did it with the Xp, and crushed 12 shots, this ball is absolutely amazing, carried well, pushed nice, and just destroyed the rack.  In this little town in north central Indiana this is the second 300 in 3 days for the Supernova XP, testimonials dont do it justice.  this ball just flat out kills the rack

Thanks Chuck, thanks Richie.  I am so pumped right now, 300's for a lot of you guys dont mean squat but to this 40 year old guy, it means a ton.  This ball is just that good

Yessir congrats Trigger....I nearly had one last Thursday with mine but forgot the throw the ball for 2 frames and left a stone 9 followed by a hit 6-10 leave...265. Should have been a 300.....

This ball is making some noise....did you end up drilling your's similar to mine?

Can't wait for leagues this week.....

Doug, I ended up drilling mine similar to yours, I put the pin in ring finger tho, mb out about 2" right of thumb, ended up being 1/2 oz positive side and 1/4 oz thumb, I was goiing to punch a weight hole in it tonight and once I weighed it up decided against it, I got out of the gate great shot 224 with two opens, screwed around in the second game with a combo of the the xp and solid supernova, just playing too deep, switched back to the xp, moved back to original line and changed my target on the lanes, 12 later I have my first 300.  want to talk about being stoked.  this ball in my opinion is great.  it is the bowler that shoots the score but the xp just is a great great ball, it really shines.  cant wait till weds to throw it on a shorter pattern to see what it can do

Almost did the same with my shops test ball last night. Left a couple of stone 9's (we use Twister pins) and had a stone 7-9 cost me 800. No 10 pins which is unusual for me with the twisters. Shot 766 with it, 268-257-241. This ball is really good. Great length with a very hard but controlled backend finish.
