I've gotten to use my XXL for 3 sets so far and I can't believe that there's no resin in this ball! It is strong and hits hard! After talking with Chuck at Lane 1 I decided to drill this ball strong, pin 3 3/8 and cg 2 1/2 from pap. For those of you that use degrees, it was laid out at 50 degrees and balance hole on pap. None of my equipment is laid out this strong but we felt it would help with the carry with the weaker coverstock.
The first time I used it was on day old synthetics. I thought that this would be on the "weaker" side so I lined up to go straight up 8. Ha! I picked off the 4-7. On each ball I just kept moving more and more left. By the second game I was standing on 28 and going 14 to 10 and this ball turned hard. I had 11 out of 12 strikes that game (10 pin in the 6th frame). The ball has tremendous hit and carry.
The next 2 sets were on wood lanes. One was a fresh shot with stripped backends and the other was the second shift. On the fresh shot I still wasn't able to go down anything further right than 11, the ball just hooked too much. I liked the look I was getting with the XXL better than my Black Cherry so I stuck with it for the first two games. Playing right around 11-12 with a small swing and the ball was awesome; carried flush and carried light. That's what surprised me most was the light hit carry. By the third game though that fresh shot must have been carried down and it stopped making the turn on the back so I switched to a deeper line with the BC. On the second shift shot I was swinging this ball like a resin and it still carried great. Definitely not the "weak" urethane that I had imagined. I haven't had a chance to go practice with it and compare it with the Silver and Cherry Bomb but I will and will let you know what I see. This is a great addition to the Buzzsaw arsenal. Take care....JS.
PS. I was getting at least 3 to 4" of flare on this ball!
